River Run Golf Course
About
River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

6th "Green" Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 08/15/2018
The course advertised free driving range balls but it was closed because they were mowing. The gentleman who checked us in did not know it was closed and it is 100 feet from where he was. He was also not the most friendly person I've met at the courses i played in the area. I understand that with all of the rain it was necessary to do car-oath-only but it sure made it difficult.both time-wise and playing conditions. It was almost impossible to sand divots because the cart was so far away. Other than that, the course was in very good condition.
Course is always fun to play
Very dry in need of a good rain like everywhere else
My husband and I have always enjoyed our River Run experiences and have appreciated the serene forest borders of the fairways. We’ll continue to play there but we’re disappointed to see the excavation on numerous holes in preparation for townhouses. The meal at the clubhouse bar was exceptional and so were the crushes!
A return to River Run
We have been playing River Run for the better part of 20 years., and we always say after the round there really isn’t a bad hole at RR. This Gary Player course is a gem from #1 to #18. Challenging for the low handicaps and fun for the beginners. We will continue making a round….or 2 part of our OCMD t vacations!
Hidden Gem
Depending on the time of year you play here, determines the course conditions. But it was green and beautiful. Greens were in great shape and the layout is challenging. Played on a hot deal which made it that much better.
Nice place, slow pace
I got paired with a longtime resident and two guys who were in from another golf community for the first time on the course as well. The resident was an exceptional ambassador for the course. I was grateful for this foursome.
Unfortunately a group of three two groups ahead of us played as slow as a group of six. At one hole on the back, we scurried past them, skipping the hole entirely - unfortunate, but otherwise we would have been on the course more than five hours.
Great Track
Was a great course with friendly staff and in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow because we had a twosome who thought it was their right to hit multiple balls on every hole. Other than that, was a great experience. Finally a golf course with beverage carts that you see more than once or twice in 18 holes .
Nice Mid-Level course
We were able to secure an online tee time through golf now and the course was in great shape!! From the golf shop staff to Tom he starter the staff was really great. The cart girls was very friendly and quick on our drinks. The pub for an appetizer afterwards made for a great experience!!
