River Run Golf Course
About
River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

6th "Green" Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 08/15/2018
Fairways and tee boxes in poor condition. 5 hour round with slow play.
Rough was very spotty. Have played here several times before but this time was probably the last.
Vacation Golf
We have been coming to Ocean City for over 20+ years & try to play 2-3 times in a 2 week period. Have played River Run 5-6 times & it’s an OK Course!
Ok
For first time was disappointed due to conditions.
Fairways were in rough condition.
Greens were slow.
September I thought was prime time?
Would like to play again in better conditions because I see the potential of this course in good conditions.
In the past when I played this course it was good to excellent. Today the course is in terrible condition. I was told when we signed in that the course was not up to snuff and my cost was reduced. However, the course was worse then expected.
Do not play here
This might be the worst conditions I’ve ever played on. They really need to just close the course and make major repairs. It was awful. We only played nine holes and decided to leave. The fairways were mud. The tee boxes were really rough and the greens had dead patches and large areas of sand. Bunkers were not maintained at all it seemed on a few holes. This was the last course of my recent golf trip to Ocean City and I won’t be back. There’s so many better options in that area to play.
Once was nice course
Played here for first time in several years. The course needs some serious TLC. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all in rough shape. Lots of bare spots and many un-puttable patches on greens. Definitely not worth what they are charging here. I even got a “deal” for $72. I think it’s way overpriced for the condition it’s in. Could be quite nice again with some work.
Very rough conditions with burned out / diseased areas all over the place. Greens generally ok but dead areas on them too. Not worth half of what they want to play.
Don't recommend playing here anytime soon.
Friendly staff but that is where the good ends. No warning of aerated greens. Fairways were patchy. No water coolers on course. Tee boxes were uneven and not level. Grass surrounding greens were often patchy with different types of grass if there was even grass because some of these areas were filled with dirt/sand instead. Shot a 39 on the front so I wasn't even having a bad day. I only played because of the hot deal so go get your money's worth at other surrounding courses. Dont waste your money here
Use to be one of the best around
Don’t know what happened to this course it was one of the best around. It looks as if they just let it go the greens were punched but they were diseased and fairways/ rough was bad as well but they still charged as if it was in top shape we all were disappointed.
Not worth your time
Fairways were mud and dirt, yellow grass, just overall in complete disarray. They sent out a group of 5 in front of two twosomes, the greens were a mix of dirt and holes, and they punched the greens the day before we played. Grounds crew followed us around, even though we were one of like 6 groups playing.
Overall, the course was in the worst shape that I have ever seen a golf course, and for them to charge $90 is a joke. Staff was friendly, but sending out large groups in front of 2 small groups is ridiculous.
No great
If you're looking for a fast playing course, its not bad. Greens were being aerated and we found out on the first green, no warning. Fairways were in rough shape. Where it was good, the fairway grass was too long. Greens were fried out from a full summer of heat. Course needs work. Layout was nice. Bunkers were well kept.
Back 9 closed?!?
I arrived and was treated by the surly pro shop attendant who informed me that not only was the back 9 closed but the front nine was aerated yesterday. I understand that aeration is necessity. I’m not happy that I wasted my money playing the same 9 holes twice. The starter was me very friendly. It would be nice if the course had some way to communicate this to the golf now service or if they did if golf now could have let me know.
Was in the area and played the course late October and found it to be a well conditioned pleasant 17 hole layout. First hole needs to be blown up.
