Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Located a short distance from the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando's airport, Hunter's Creek Golf Course offered a challenging game. It was the longest golf course in Florida and has been rated among the top 75 public courses in the U.S. The course winded through stately pines and thirteen lakes. The spacious, rolling fairways and expansive, undulating greens presented interesting challenges on the course. There were also many strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that come into play on almost every hole.

Great fair layout
Unfortunately I've played this course on a windy day from the blue tees it was very challenging some of the fairways need work the greens were inconsistent but overall I enjoyed myself I'm sure that they will do more work to make the experience more pleasurable for avid golfers. I do recommend this golf course for an early vacation practice round
Average public course, nice people
Met very nice folks working at this public course. It is a typical public course that gets alot of play. Some divots to avoid and winter grass already but very playable. Mostly open with few hidden hazards (watch out for the creek cutting across the fairway on 10 though).
My Home Course
Played Saturday, for the third day in a row. We've had less than 1" of measurable rain since Hurricane Matthew, the first week of October. Yes, the course is brown, but in excellent condition. The turf is firm and full of grass. The greens seem to come and go with the weather, but the staff has been battling to keep them in excellent condition. Some spots are being sanded and treated, but other courses in the area are suffering with the same issues. The inside staff is friendly and courteous, and the outside staff are professional, friendly and work hard to get golfers ready to play. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to spend the money to put rakes at every bunker, or put the rakes back on each cart, as was done in the past. Golfers playing later than 10:00 am usually find the bunkers in poor condition, because many of the holes have few if any rakes with which to clean the bunkers. I'm looking forward to early Spring and even better, greener conditions.
Can't take my son
3pm on a Sunday afternoon. I've been out with my 2 1/2 year old at least 3 times on this course. I'm a local, live in Hunter's Creek. I try to slide out to play 9 holes with my son and this time I'm told he can't ride in the cart with me. Along with the quality of the greens, this is just one more reason for me to quit spending my money here.
Fun course in pretty good shape!
Some people that have reviewed this course recently were upset at the not perfect conditions of the course. It has not rained in this area for almost 2 months, so much of the course has browner grass. Grass is not dead by any means, but it is not as vibrantly green as you would want in a course. Not their fault and honestly, the course looks great for the dry conditions.
There was water on almost every hole. Some holes the water did not come into play, but for many of the holes you had water lining the fairways or had to hit over water on your tee shot. With that in mind, just bring a few extra balls just in case. There was a nice variety of long and short holes as well as dogleg lefts and right. The par 3s were pretty fun and some of the long par 5s were close to 600 yards. I had a great time playing here and would come back.
Go onto this course's website to see an aerial view of each hole so you have an idea of where to play.
Staff was very professional and nice. Saw the cart girl multiple times during the round and there was a bathroom on the course.
Peaceful Knock on Thanksgiving
Good value, very scenic, lots of water and a huge choice of tees ranging from 7500 yds to 6000 yds for the men. We played on Thanksgiving morning and had the course to ourselves which was great especially as my wife is just begining to play and is very concious of holding others up. Even so we got round in 4 hrs. Can't imagine walking this course as there are some long distances between green and tee as it wanders round Hunters Creek. Undulating fairways with good bunkering make this more interesting than many flat Florida courses. However I thought the greens were in poor condition and very inconsistent for pace and hold. Having said that I'd happily play there again. Very friendly staff but can't comment on other facilities as everything was closed for the holiday by the time we finished.
The worst course in Orlando!
If you love to hit 180 yds with a 60 degrees wedge, this is your course. The fairways and greens are so dry that the ball never stop, it's like solid rock, you can't place the tee on the ground, you need a drill to make a hole in the tee box.
I'll never play this course again, believe me, stay away of this nightmare.
Improving
This was the third time we have played the course on our annual Florida golf week. It has improved but still has a way to go. Greens were good, fairways OK and tees poor.
Typical FL round for me
Layout was pretty good, I guess I'm just looking for something different while golfing in FL. Same old tight fairways with not much spray it around like I like to do. For some reason I must always golf when grass isn't green and lush down here. Just not a good enough to hit of hard pan tight lies. The Bermuda should tee it up for me but like I said not much rough to aim for so you gets you in trouble. It's not bad, don't rent clubs, overpriced it would have been cheaper to ship with shipsticks. Lots of homes right on the course as well and no bev cart.
Great value
This is a nicely laid out course that's not too far from Disney, and yet is pretty reasonable on the green fees.
The course's main defence is it's length, which plays up to 7400 yards, but there's lots of water and sand to keep you honest no matter which tees you choose.
The course itself was a little dry looking when I played it, and the tees weren't the best that I've seen. The greens were okay, but nothing special.
Fair value for the price
Overall we enjoyed the round. Some challenging holes and pretty water fowl. Greens were a bit rough still and a few traps had water in them. Good pace of play. Finished in just over 4 hours. A few items where attention to detail doesn't cost a lot to implement: ensure ALL the cart keys have restroom keys on them, rakes in every bunker, resurface the wood bridges. I think a cart girl would have been kept busy had there been one as the course was full.
Great fun and a Good track
Having previously enjoyed this course I wanted to share it. Finally my snowbird Brother-in-Law made it down. We tee'd up at 8:30 bit foggy but visibility was fine. We were paired up with a very nice young man who played from the blues. We played the greens. Course is definitely a challenge and plays longer than it appears. There are a lot of bunkers that come into play especially for the accuracy challenged. While there is water on several holes it really only comes into play on #5.......all in all we had a great time
Bad Day
Outing in front of Us Slow play, almost 6 hr rd . No marshal to help keep things in control. They were driving on the fringe of the greens . when players in front finished they were out driving around on the course. When we got to the 18 hole there was 6 carts and 10 people on the green. Needs water bad!!! Club house needs to stay open until all golfer are in. MARSHAL !!!!! 45min wait to tee of after the turn,6 groups on the tee. Most likely will not play again.
Great Course and Much Better Than I Remembered
This was our 7th different round in 9 days and did not disappoint. I played here in the summer of 2015 and did not figure on playing the course this year however I am very glad we did. The course was excellent, much better than I remembered and in great condition providing a very good test of golf from the green tees for the mixed handicaps in our group. An excellent days golf finished off in the 19th with a couple of beers. A big shout out to the very friendly Lancastrian working in the pro shop...
Course is in good shape
A very enjoyable round of golf played in under 4 hours. We would definitely recommend you play this course.
Hunters Creek
Excellent value for money!
Great holes!!
Condition
End of cart path on to grass should be levelled hard on your carts and will keep people from driving around and causing other damage
Hunter's Creek 4 1/2 Star
This was the first time I played this course. I found it very helpful in a way of keeping my shots straight. I wasn't all over the course. The fairways needed alittle attention but overall not bad. The greens were alittle difficult. But I diffently would go back. Very serene! Nice courtesy gentleman at the pro shop.
Great Course
You need to play this course. Lots of water, yet fun to play.
