Located a short distance from the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando's airport, Hunter's Creek Golf Course offered a challenging game. It was the longest golf course in Florida and has been rated among the top 75 public courses in the U.S. The course winded through stately pines and thirteen lakes. The spacious, rolling fairways and expansive, undulating greens presented interesting challenges on the course. There were also many strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that come into play on almost every hole.

Horrible Fariway Conditions/Slow Pace
I booked a round on this course while on vacation in FL in February through golf now. I figured that since this is the money making season for golf in FL that the course would be maintained well. I was wrong. It looked like they hadn't watered it in quite a while so the fairways were rock hard. The greens were in fairly good condition. The pace of play was incredibly slow...when the ranger came around he didn't stop to ask about pace or ask the people in fron of us to hurry up. It took us 2 3/4hrs to play 9 holes (mainly due to pace ettiquette of the people ahead of us) I had a tee time of 11 (we didn't tee off until 11:10) and a flight to catch at 6, so we didn't play the back nine due to the pace.
Waste of time and money
Played on Feb. 22, 2015. The weather was a perfect sunny and 80 degree day. The only thing that can possibly ruin a day like that is a round of golf at Hunter's Creek. I've played many courses in the Orlando area and this is by far the worst maintained course I've seen. Our price was $65 for 18 and a cart. Outrageous for a course in as bad condition as Hunter's Creek. The fairways are bare (dirt), greens deteriorated and pace of play was extremely slow. Bottom line is, if you're thinking of booking a tee time at Hunter's Creek, don't waste your time or money. There is much better value at many other course in the Orlando area.
Hunter's Creek was TERRIBLE
The fairways are the worse I've played on in the Florida Orlando area. They were dry, hardpan with little grass. The greens were punched and no sand was applied to cover up the holes so putting was impossible. This would have been an easy remedy for the greens but water was needed on the fairways in a large way.
When we aksed the pro shop after nine holes for a refund he gave us a snotty reply that refunds are only for rained out play. Completely uncooperative !!
The GM of this course also used run Celebration and the Stonegate course in Solivita....I expected much better
Don't play this course
i played this course on the advise of a friend who had played the course a few years ago. He would be shocked at the poor condition of this course.
No grass in the fairways, greens had recently been punched and we're not in good shape. The restrooms on the course we're locked as was the clubhouse when we finished.
We didn't see a beverage cart on the course the entire 18 but did see the beverage cart lady parked at the clubhouse after the front nine. When we asked about buying beverages she acted like we were bothering her and became quite rude. The only pleasant worker we met all day was the young man handling the carts and sending people off to the first tee. The pace was very slow due to no marshals on the course. This course has obviously digressed due to poor management and the lack of caring.
Anyone writing a recent positive review of this course must either work there, own it or don't know anything about golf. Hunter's Creek is the worst conditioned course I have played in many years.
Fallen on hard times
I have played this course several times, most recently three months ago. I was surprised how much the course has deteriorated. The fairways were bare in places and very hard. The greens were bumpy and rolled poorly although they had been recently aerated. It needs some serious maintenance.
Dont play
Hunter's Creek was in terrible condition.
Basically no grass in fairways, greens weren't in good shape and no beverage cart on course. It was parked at the clubhouse and the lady operating it was very rude.
Restroom on the course were locked and so was the clubhouse when we finished due to very slow pace of play. This course needs some management and leadership.
it was a nice course
I enjoyed playing here, it was a great value for the price
Course over rated
The course is at best fair condition. Greens in fair condition and fairways were also fair. Not worth $60 to play.
Very poor standard
This is the worst course I have played for many years.
coming from Europe and not having my own set, "forced" me to rent a "Callaway set". The set was a mix of 4 different sets, including ladies clubs and old Nike clubs as well.
The fairways were VERY poor and half of the greens just as bad. 70% of the bunkers were full of water (4 days since last rain)
I paid more than 150$ in total and it was not even 1.50$ worth.
Normally I am not negative and love playing new courses, but this was not worth US standards
Worth playing
A good course at a reasonable price, worth playing.
Poorly managed
My group had a 2:15 tee time. One of us called the pro shop early in the morning to see if there was a chance that we could get an earlier tee time due to the poor weather, and we were told yes, 1:00. We get there at 12:45, go to check in, and are told that the 1:00 tee time was no longer available. So we decided to go in and have lunch while we waited. We sit down, order coffee, and look at the menu. Then we were told that they didn't have about 1/2 of the items on the menu. Burgers, but no fry's, water, but no lemon, and so on. Ok, we eat, than go back to the starter for our tee time, and they have no golf carts. They over booked so bad that everyone had to wait for someone else to finish their round before they could get a cart.
aA NEW MONEY GRAB TACTIC
So now they want you to pay a $2 'environmental fee' on top of your regular green fee. Am not impressed. Did not have to pay this anywhere else. Probably will not play there again.
Staff in pro shop was excellent. The starter may as well have stayed home.
Hunters Creek
Played the course in the rain. Nice layout but course in poor condition. Thin layer of grass on fairways, Some greens were spotty and fringes were lumpy. Par 3 yardages were definitely not what was stated on scorecard.
Definitely will not return. Course needs quite a bit of work.
Slow Play, Poor Condition
We arrived early, but did not get off until 25 minutes after our tee time. There were no carts for 20 minutes. When we finally got a cart, we asked to go off #10 because there was a line-up on #1, but the staff said policy prohibited it.
So we waited....while watching no one coming off 18 for 15 or more minutes -- that's why there were not carts available -- but there were 4 or 5 groups on each hole on the front nine. We asked where was the ranger. The staff said there was none! On an OVERBOOKED Sunday afternoon, and no ranger? Something wrong here! We played this course before this year and it was in good/excellent condition. On Sunday, it was bad. Stay away.
Not worth the price.
Probably a very nice course in the past but now is in dire need of upkeep. Most of the tee's are not in good shape nor the greens. It rained towards the end of our round and when we arrived at the clubhouse there wasn't a soul around to help clear the cart and return our clubs to the car. Not a great experience.
mixed
the course is in need of upgrades to the tee blocks as it was a challenge finding level ground.
the pro shop staff were very good
the bar person could use some people skills learning
the food was good
-
overall it was a good course for the value.
Not worth the money
i will never play this. Ourse again. 1st they offered a same day special of green fee, range balls, lunch and a golf towel. When I Checked in the counter help told me they haven't had golf towels in a while but I could have a logo ball if I wanted, he. couldn't find of those either. Was going to be at least 30 minutes to be able to get lunch as they were that far behind. They were out of golf balls for the range and short on help, would have to wait until they. could pick the range to get some golf balls. My T Time was 11:38, we finally teed off at 12:20 and 5 hours and 20 minutes later we reached the 18th green. The course was in fair shape at best, the greens had very little grass, my group lost 2 balls in the bunker that was full of water, still there from rain a week earlier. Choose someplace else to play and save your money !!!
Unforeseen Expense
Upon arriving at the course with my printed confirmation receipt in hand, I was told aside from outstanding balance, that course management, required an additional 5+ fee on top of what golfnow indicated that I owed. This was unexpected and occurred before. I have played this course a few times in the past through golfnow without such added cost. So, beware, should you book and play this course in the future.
