One of my favorite courses

Back in the days when green fees were just the quarter of what it is now .. it was the first course I broke 100 and I’d come back from time to time but with the prices going up so high friends who golfs with me doesn’t want to play here due to price increases..( I came by myself this time). It was very windy but I managed to play along smoothly because there was to pushing from the back and no one in front.,. I guess they all cancelled due to temperature rise thus day obove 90

This course looks and plays amazing.

Took my son for his birthday, had read and seen quite a bit about the course, and it lived up to expectations. The views were amazing, and the course played well.

Great Course

Oak Quarry is a great golf course and challenging holes no doubt. The BBQ for lunch is delicious. However, the two complaints I have when I played was the driving range was down and seems to be lately and their course makers to various holes were vandalized causing some confusion of where to go on the switchbacks and loops on the course. Some TLC is needed.

Great Course- service issues

First of all Oak Quarry has always been one of my favorite layouts. Very cool design and usually in gold shape. We actually drove up from San Diego to play it. It was the second time in about 6 months. We got there early so we could properly warm up before the round. That’s when we were told “ The range is not open” interesting because the last time I’ve was there about 6 months ago so was also told the range was closed. We were there plenty early that if we had known this we could’ve stopped somewhere to hit balls. We drove by the range on the way to the third tee and the range looked absolutely pristine. After the round we went into the pro shop to ask about the range. We were told the range had been closed at least 6 months and it wasn’t the first time they had heard this. Why, we asked it looks great. Well our equipment to pick up the ball’s is broken. For over 6 months !!!!!! They said they had received many complaints regarding this. Well why don’t they fix it or at least put a comment on their website saying the range is closed.” Well the manager just doesn’t care “ is what we were told. We still has a summer menu in the website and we haven’t had dinner here for over a year. I don’t know about you but when someone doesn’t care about their customers that is not a place I want to go back to. It’s a shame because it truly is a great course.

“They Don’t Care”

First off, it’s a very good golf course with a very challenging layout, and the woman that runs the restaurant is really nice and works very hard. In a nutshell, here’s where our disappointment began and ended…

We checked in and asked where the driving range was. They guy said the driving range was closed and been for six months. When we saw the driving range, we were shocked it closed because it was in perfect condition. The excuse we were given is that they did not have a machine to pick up the balls on the range. Ridiculous

We inquired about a discount because it was not listed on the website or anywhere that the driving range was closed. They said they would not offer a discount..the more we inquired we were told in these words “the GM just doesn’t care.” we were shocked and told him that’s how horrible customer service. The guy also told us that they post a dinner menu there for patrons even though they haven’t served dinner in over five years because the GM (Kyle Adams) just doesn’t care

Overall it’s not worth the drive out there. Don’t waste your time and money.

One of the best courses

First time playing Oak Quarry, and was blown away. Just an amazing golf and great scenery. Price is not cheap but also not overly expensive. Just good for a nice good course. If you have the chance , go play it

Great Scenery; Target Golf

This is such a unique course and setting that you cannot help but appreciate your time here.

Pace of Play was a little slow throughout, as we waited on every shot and the round took 5 hours. I understand playing mid morning on a weekend has its disadvantages, but was a little disappointed in the pace.

Overall, I love this course and the beauty, challenge and opportunity to score it provides.

Very Slow

While the course layout is quite nice and we played on a very light day (per the pro shop). The play was so slow we couldn't enjoy the round. We were told at the start that a Marshall would be coming around with water during the round as it was warm. Not only did we not see the Marshall with water, no one came around until we were on hole 17 to apologize for the players two groups ahead. We were on the tee box with the group just ahead of us on 16 of 18 holes - unacceptable course management.

Beautiful, but subpar experience

Paid for a full round for a 4:00 tee time. Proceeded to behind a group of 8…..yes 8. Was forced to skip holes 5-8 due to pace. Got to play with Keith - the Marshall, and he was fantastic.

Awesome Weekend Experience

I had a 1:20 p.m. tee time on Saturday, March 29th. In prior experiences with the course, I would go in anticipating at least a 5-hour round and needing to stock up on amenities before going out onto a course that usually has hotter conditions than most of the surrounding area. Man does it seem like they have made some improvements since the last time!

Although they're driving range is still currently down, they have excellent putting greens you can utilize to get a feel for what's actually on the course for you around.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating; while not having a cart girl, they did have a comfort stop after the 11th hole and a couple people on carts driving around to provide ice cold water for the very warm day.

If you have not played before, the course is as beautiful as it is challenging. While you do have the remnants of a former that is noticeable on every hole, the shots you make on this course may need to be carved as precise as the rocks needed to be to shape the Quarry itself as a mishit ball could find its way to the bottom of the quarry on certain holes after a very long drop.. However, it does have multiple tee boxes to fit your current skill set.

Unlike last time, I was able to finish just barely over 4 hours! With all the decent to above average courses in California cramming their their t-sheets, this was actually a pleasant surprise as there was not much waiting this time around.. Their regular rates still do leave some to be desired, but if you can get a hot deal like I did (or have some extra spending money), it is well worth the trip.

One Of The Best Around.

Oak Quarry is by far one of the best public courses around. From the initial start off the 1st tee you can see what you are about get in to. The course is always in really good shape. The tee boxes could use some love. But other than that everything is great here. I’ve never played here at regular price (clubhouse rates) because I always get lucky with a Hot Deal from GN and you honestly can not beat the price for this type of scenery, conditions and layout. The track is laid out perfectly for all types of golfers. It’s tough enough but not the toughest for any handicap. Greens were running slow this time around for some reason but over all had the best time and a great round. One of my favorites and always will be!

AN AMAZING COURSE!

This course was amazing course, not only the view but also the hole locations of the course. None of the holes were one on top of the other with a beautiful layout!

Could’ve used a cart girl (attendant) and/or have the bar remain open longer after play.

Great course, disappointing punched greens

First time out there and it was a really amazing courses, but at check in they said they just punched greens and there was no sand, but still bumpy. Turns out there was tons of sand on every green it was almost un puttable.

Driving range was also closed, so was pretty disappointed for making such a far trip to not feel like I got the value out of it so I would caution checking on these things before you book

Plugged grenes

They said “mini plugged.” Still simply unpredictable. Range closed for some time. Start with as great. Love the course, but not a great day. It is as hot, which can’t be controlled. No water on the course. No cart person or options till 11th tee.
