Rutgers University Golf Course

Rutgers is usually one of our favorite courses. However, this past week it became one we were not happy with. The weather policy is terrible. After teeing off and playing 4 holes the rain came and washed the course out. We were informed the course was closed and return to the clubhouse. We had paid $71 to ride 18. Once back in the clubhouse we were informed we'd have to wait for the superintended to decide if the course would close. About 60 minutes passed and the decision was made the course would reopen but would be walking only. The course would only refund the cart fee. Being with two senior citizens walking was not an option. No refund or rain check were offered. Only played 4 holes for full price. That stinks.

Played 3 holes when it began to rain and they closed the course. When I asked for my money back, I was told it’s not their policy that they don’t give rain checks. No even a credit to come back for a round. They expected me to notice a sign on their counter that says they don’t take rain checks, rather than actually telling me that there is inclimate weather coming, play at your own risk. The older woman at the club house needs to retire with the attitude she was throwing around. Would not recommend. I used to like this course a lot. But after today, never again. Poorly run and the staff needs better training on compassion. Between my round, the carts balls, range time, and drinks at the snack shack, I paid over $130 for 3 holes. Unacceptable and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Not even an “I’m sorry.”

Good course and great staff.

Pace of Play was a little slow (4.5 hours).

Solid course, Fair value. On the shorter side, nice green complexes. Enjoyed the day

Friendly staff (even loaded bags onto cart). Great conditions and a good challenge on almost every hole. Fast greens and staff said they are working to get them even faster. A nice little unknown, to me, gem of a course.
