Great layout
Course has a great layout and is a challenge for all golfers. Greens are in excellent shape, and easy to walk.
Fast greens
Played in very windy. Conditions but the course was in good shape for December. Greens were fast but true.
We will be playing more often next year. It is one of the better public courses in the area
RU ready for some golf
As a Rutgers alum who first played the course way back in 1979, I enjoy coming back to play here a few times a year. The course condition has only gotten better over the years, and I enjoyed another round here on this occasion.
Good course but too expensive for the area
I like this course. But with so many nice courses in the area it is overpriced. The twilight rate is ok but they don't give you enough time to get 18 in most of the year. $18 for a cart is the highest I've seen. And the won't let you take a cart out 4.5 hours before sunset. I guess they don't want to pay $9 an hour for a kid to stay and put the carts away.
Price
This is a great course to play but I can recommend it to my friends since it is not price friendly for Seniors, if they lowered the price we would play there more often,
I guess they don't need the business
Great Course
Everything about this course was great except the cost to play! Senior, walking, member, winter rate was too high.
Conditions good, rangers need a clue
I’ve played Rutgers for the better part of 30 years, with scant play the last couple of years. Conditions are usually good. Course is short but fun.
The reason my foursome rarely play there is the attitude of the rangers to be on top of the group in front of you even if your not behind. Couple of instances where the hold up was 3-4 holes up but they keep pushing all the other groups behind them. It’s never a relaxing round when you play there because they just want you to finish and get out.
So we did get out and play elsewhere . My foursome have handicaps of 7-14, so we’re not great but we’re not hacks either.
Better courses for the money if you can get the tee times.
Great Course
I have been playing Rutgers University golf course for years and it has always been in great condition. It is well maintained and beautifully manicured. The pace of play is not ideal. It is a bit slow, I have walked off the course a few times due to that reason alone. You should not be on the 13th hole and you are 4.5 hours into the round. Not acceptable. Furthermore, the price of the course is outrageous. This course to walk should only cost no more than 25$.
Solid course with room to improve
Rutgers is a good track, a good value for the price, although peak times are pretty high. The range and practice area is top-notch, best in the area in my opinion.
The greatest drawback is that they 110% NEED a better presence on the course, as there are many times when a snail's pace would seem fast! The pace of play is what keeps me from coming back again and again. Additionally, the staff could be a heck of a lot friendly at times, although the "seasoned vets" that work at the curse are high class.
Awsome Course
This course is great to play at, timed, clean, fun with friends, but not to happy with pricing. I would bring out of town friends to play but for that money would rather play my local course. Needs work on amenities.
Cold and Damp but still playing in November
First time playing Rutgers and I was impressed. I showed up early because I wanted to warm up a little (they have a full range), but they had a frost delay. Staff juggled the players and paired people up in a very organized manner and kept people informed. I actually ended up getting out at the same time as my original tee time as a single.People that I was matched with play there often and play from the tips, so I joined them. Little long on some of the par 3's but definitely manageable as the course is not long even from the back tees. Held my own with the better players on most of the holes but my putting needed help. Practice green is not as difficult as some of the sloped and tiered greens on the course. Would play there again especially with a Golf Now special!!
A Grand Old Course
I have played here since a student. The trees are much larger now and I don't hit the ball as far.
It is a good course to go back to once in a while. Just don't go there much since my friend moved to Florida.
It was one our last nice days, so I just had to go. The staff is so friendly as usual, they can't do enough for you. Has a full snack bar, which many of the Public courses around here do not.
Course was in amazing shape for November, and there were plenty of people working on it.
A friendly, homey place I like to go back to. Try it, you'll like it.
Not as easy as it looks
Played here a lot. Straight course, looks easy but tough and challenging. Long Par 3's are a challenge and couple Par 5's made for big hitters only.
Highly Recommended
Price is right! Staff is great! And the course is fun with many challenging holes, but all unique. Good practice facilities also help making this a recommended course.
Great Couse. Good Value
I have been playing this course for a number of years. It is not overly long but it is challenging. For a public course that is heavily played it is very well maintained. A round of golf moves quickly. Most rounds on a weekend in a foursome finish in about 4 hours. They have a driving range. The staff here are very friendly. Only wish that the would build a better clubhouse.
Great Course
Very well kept and great pace of play. Nice to walk.
