Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
About
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

Poor course
This course is in terrible Fairways were uneven and bare in spots Some areas were not identified as Fairways Greens were uneven and balls bounced when putted Bare spots on Greens People were friendly and helpful but overall this course is a mess!!
Poor Condition
The fairways were like a cow pasture and the greens were in need of repair. The old cup holes weren’t repaired. The edge of the greens were bare. Tee boxes had a lot of dirt not grass.
Not we’ll maintained
Haven’t played this course in years and had heard it had a multi million dollar renovation. Not sure what they spent the money on other than the clubhouse and. Nice bathrooms. Certainly don’t spend it on maintaining the course. Grass was high in some areas, brown or dead on the tee box’s, lots of dirt showing. It’s worse than it was before.
Dry Course
Course in sad shape was not an enjoyable play.
Staff Gorge and Kelly made a lasting impression great ambassadors to his course .
After work special
Course was extremely dry due to lack of rain. Fairways are a bit bumpy but the greens are in desperate need of help. Cart gps didn’t work. For $18 after 4 pm for unlimited holes until dark it’s a good deal. Over all I would suggest this course for beginners and less formal golfers that aren’t so serious
Great layout.
I was hesitant to give this course a try because of the reviews on this site. But after playing today I was pleasantly surprised. Comments like “awful” and “cow pasture” are unfair and are definitely those of players who are used to pristine conditions elsewhere. Granted, Charlotte Harbor isn’t in the condition that it once was, but it is a spectacular layout with great tee options, interesting and challenging greens, and loads of water that come into play on almost every hole. That is, if there were water in the lakes. It is the end of particularly long dry season, and the lakes are almost completely dried up. This is clearly why the course is suffering, it needs more irrigation. Hopefully when the summer rains return to fill the lakes, the turf will recover and soften up. I’ll definitely be back.
Good for the dollar
Fairways and greens are in rough shape. Good value for the afternoon play.
Poor shape
This course was once one of the best around but not anymore. The greens are terrible with bare spots and clumps of crabgrass so your puts bounce all over. The fairways are also filled with bare areas and the grass is poor. Even the tee boxes need work. The funny thing is the sand traps used to be the worst thing on this course but now are the best part.
Fairway & Greens in rough Shape
Price was reasonable but course not in the greatest shape
This most dissatisfied golfer
The course has a real nice sand that’s about all and charge 70 bucks it’s not worth 20
Disappointed
We have played this course over the last ten years. Not last year because of Covid. I have NEVER seen it in such poor shape. It was basically a cow pasture. So glad we didn’t buy property there several years ago
Course in rough shape
Cart attendant, who was very nice, told us earlier in the year the course went 6 weeks without being able to pump water. Unfortunately it really shows, as I played here about a year ago and the physical decline is painfully obvious. I hope they can bring it back to its former level. Had a great time though as course was empty (teed off at around 1:30, a leisurely 18 riding took about 3:45).
This course was in awful shape.
I wouldn't recommend this golf course to anyone. It is one of the worst taken care of course I have ever played. For the fees that were charged us was a disgrace. It is a shame that golf now would even be associated with this facility at all.
We will never play this course again no matter what the charge is.
