Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
About
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

The layout is wonderful. Unfortunately, the fairways and rough are in bad shape. The greens are really bad. Money to keep the course in good shape must be a problem. The design is so good and it was sad to see the condition of the course.
Don’t Waste Your Time
What a waste of a great layout. We were told the place was in bankruptcy and course condition is a major casualty. The fairways are awful. The greens are like cobblestone. It’s a shame. Hopefully someone will take the time and effort to bring this course back to the conditions it deserves. Until that happens don’t waste your time, play someplace that wants your business.
The worst golf course I have played In my 32 years of living in south Florida
This is not a golf course and should not be advised as so . We played two holes and returned to the club house.we asked the starter why he never informed us of the diabolical conditions of the course, like everything else at this place .his response was go play somewhere else so we did . My review is as honest as can be ! and the reason for my review I would not like it if I was in town looking for a round of golf and ended up at this place . Groupon should also review the reviews be for you promote such misleading golf experience.
WOW never again.
Kind regards Dave Donnelly boca raton
course needs help
COURSE NEEDS WATER .GREENS FULL OF WEEDS very very poor
Poor condition
Course is in poor condition
Greens are terrible weeds everywhere through the greens
Awesome layout, not sure what all the negative reviews are
My wife and played this course for the first time and it quickly became one of our favorites in the area. The layout is incredible, each hole is very unique and challenging. You want fast greens, well you have them here. All these negative reviews had me nervous but if you go not expecting meticulous conditions you will not be disappointed, we aren’t in Augusta.. The tee boxes were great, traps were really good, greens crazy fast, and fairways were not nearly as bad as some other reviews say. Could it use water, sure, what course couldn’t, is it a cow pasture, absolutions not! Water plays on virtually every hole and plenty of undulations. This is a very fun course and if your not a golf snob, you will most definitely enjoy it. We will most certainly be back.
Not the Bobcat from past years.
I played Charlotte Harbor national GC (Bobcat) for the first time in at least 18 months. Boy was I disappointed, fthe fairways were dry and void of anything colored green. The greens were brown the only green were the weeds which created a bumpy putting surface, they were so firm they couldn’t hold an anvil if tossed on them.
This was not the Bobcat I fondly remembered. I will not be returning anytime soon and I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Sad shape for a beautiful course
We used to love this course but it is in terrible shape.. The greens haven't been taken care of, the fairways are void of green grass and I don't think that i am being to critical.
Charlotte National
They’re not watering anything. So many weeds on the green your ball bounces up to the cup.
If they could grow grass and not weeds it would be a premier golf course. The layout is awesome but conditions are horrendous. A shame. Never again.
Bad time of year
I have played this course several times, but this year course was all dried out . Love the layout, but the dried out conditions were horrible.
Horrible all the way around
Starting with the "no personality" pro shop attendant, he acted like I was a burden coming in to pay for my tee time. Then I have never seen a course in such horrible condition. From burnt grass pretty much everywhere to bumpy, hole filled greens. I have been playing this course for probably 15 years and will never go back. What a shame. Designer Bob Tway would be appalled at it's condition.
Good Bones
It's been a year since I played Charlotte Nat'l. Course has great architecture, mounding and hole variety. Bunkers were greatly improved ("A" condition) from two years ago. But dormant grass in March was basically non-existent, hitting off sand or weeds everywhere. No overseeding and very firm conditions. It is to bad because this could be a gem. Maybe the course is lacking water rights but it needs huge drinks to get nursed green. All brown, dead, shaved surfaces during our round. Hoping that the new ownership has something up their sleeves to improve conditions in the future. Staff was very nice and they had provisions in place for golfers to get cool water during the pandemic. We played under a Twilight rate.
Course was very dry, two greens had sand showing though the grass, overall greens poor condition. Good layout but needs work.
