Where dies the $ go?

40000 rounds played every year and you would think they would do some maintenance. All the tee boxes are in horrible shape. Now would be the time to seed them or lay some sod. How about some weed killer? And at least put som gravel in the deep ruts on the cart paths. You have to be making money since you don't pay property taxes.

Over crowded and no etiquette

The front 9.is nice and the back 9 Is like playing on concrete ! Let’s just say they pack them in and you could get hit with a ball. The players are mainly below average and practice 0 etiquette. A lot of drunks ! It’s worth playing but it’s rough

Worst course ever

Came to Asheville, NC for a bachelor party with 12 guys. We had three tee times. From the very beginning the starter was unbelievably rude, demanding, unprofessional, and ultimately set the tone for an inevitable awful experience. (My friend and I flew and took one golf bag with both sets of clubs to save money.) The starter began interrogating us for a solid ten minutes Apparently, this is not allowed due to Covid-19. Yet, we were allowed to ride in the same cart. Makes sense. Tee boxes are in terrible shape, you can lose a ball if you hit the fairway, and greens are covered in sand. Pretty much the entire course is in bad shape. Pace of the play was another big issue. 6 hours to get through a round of golf is ridiculous. Everyone who worked there is disrespectful. I would never go out of my way to post a bad review but this is an exception. If you ever travel to Asheville, please look elsewhere to play golf and have fun. Rug n tug baby rug n tug.

By Far the Worse Course I’ve ever Played On

A friend of mine and I were looking for some places to play in Asheville and long story short we resorted to this course thinking it would be somewhat semi-decent. Not even. I could probably create a homemade course better than this. Only course I know that you can lose balls in the fairway. They charged my friend an extra 20 dollars because he couldn’t share clubs with me like he does all the time at more prestige courses. I’m never the type to complain, and we definitely made the most of our time, but I will never throw away money to play here again.

Ironic that review isn’t associated with my group that played yesterday as well.

Slow play

First of all, the course ‘Men’s Association’. Really go out of their way to discourage outsiders to play here even though it is a municipal course. The pace of play is horrendous at 5 hours. There are no real fairways. It was a disappointment and I will never play it again.

You get what you pay for

if you want a cheap round of golf or would rather spend your $15 bucks playing rather than going to the range this is your best bet in Asheville. There’s nothing fancy to the front 9 and the layout is pretty mundane but it’s a great course for a casual round. Being a muni, the pace of play can be slow. Might as well walk the course bc it’s short and very walkable.

Convenient Goat Track

I hate to be rude, but the convenience of the drive was the only truly positive about this experience.

The greens were in decent shape compared to the rest of the course. For the most part you can tell there’s an established member group who fixes ballmarks atleast.

The tees and fairways were in terrible shape. The front-9 was about average condition whereas the back 9 was about as frustrating as I’ve experienced in a long time.

Pace of play was average for the day of the week, but I can only imagine how bad it gets out there with the lack of ranger and age of the average player.

For the amount of rain western NC had the weeks before, I’m both impressed and terrified for what conditions would be like normally. They need to excavate and re-sod 10-11. It’s not “target golf”, it’s “why am I here golf”.

Aging Historic course, with low funds. Glad I played it as some golf is better than none. Hope they keep investing in it and spruce it up.

Used to be great. Tragically mismanaged/short of funds.

Greens are okay, but worst tee boxes I’ve seen in a long time and fairways barely mowed.

Harsh course conditions from tee to green

I know this municipal course gets a lot of play, and historically it has always shown signs of wear and tear by August. The conditions today were the worst I have ever seen in my 18+ years playing "The Muni". Tee boxes were sand pits on so many holes. Sand bunkers had zero "loose sand" so I was playing off hardpan bunker floors. Some fairways (e.g. #10) had no grass but sporadic clumps of crabgrass. The greens were bumpy and significantly pock-marked, much due no doubt to inconsiderate "golfers" not bothering to repair their ball marks. Finally, the cart paths were pathetic, major potholes and missing large chunks of asphalt. The place is incredibly rundown. The staff was nice/helpful. I won't be back until late spring at the earliest. Glad I capitalized on TeeOff's Deal, otherwise the regular green fee would have been a sham.

Save your money

For anyone giving this courses review over 3 stars, you are delusional. Course looks like it’s never been maintained and the cart paths hadn’t been redone since the civil war. If you played the front 9 twice it’s almost worth your money, but the back nine seems like it never got finished to begin with. Was expecting more but at least the views were nice. The 18th hole is cool though.
