Greens are in very good condition inspite of being aerated

the course offers 2 very different halves. The front nine is all flat with pretty open fairways. The back 9 has alot of hills with blind tee box shots. A few holes have narrow alleys in which to tee off with trees creating issues. The back 9 had a few weedy and dirt tee boxes. Greens were okay except that the sponginess allowed divots all over them and previous players had not bothered to fix them. If you want inexpensive golf and don't mind a course that has some faults, then this one is for you!

I have played this course for almost 50 years. I have played it many times in the last couple of years. Played today and I can’t believe how far downhill the course has gone. Fairways had 6 inch grass in them, the cart paths were all broken and had holes, the greens were 1/3 black dirt and 2/3 grass and even the tea boxes were not level and had little grass.

Too bad, it’s a nice layout.

The course is in pretty rough shape. The greens are nice, but the fairways have a lot of rocky/bare spots and the grass is long in many places.

Had a great time playing the course despite the rain showers. The Golf Now app’s discount on the price is the reason I decided to play the course again.

Got stuck behind a foursome playing in the Gang tourney and you would have thought they were playing for a few thousand dollars. Totally RUDE slow play with no one in front of them. The staff is great, but someone needs to having a meeting with the Gang players and tell them to SPEED UP!!!!!

Wonderful mountain layout for those looking for affordable golf in the Asheville area. No surprises, great people, a true public golf course experience.

Have been playing Asheville Muni for years. Have seen it in a lot worse shape in the past. They have done a good job of getting this course in better shape. Greens rolled well, a little slow and couldn’t hold a wedge too much but that’s my problem to adjust to :-). That may have been because the Skyview was not long ago.

Only issue I’ve ever had was pace of play. It can be a bit slow at times especially on the front. It’s a course design issue with holes being close together. Would like to see a ranger watching for groups holding people up that have lost more than a hole to the people in front of them and have them let the group behind go through.

All in all I recommend this course. It’s an old design and a blast from the past!

I have played golf for 68 years and I can honestly say this is the worst conditioned course I have ever played. Greens were just average. Fairways and green surrounds were disgusting. One tee area had absolutely no grass. The 11th hole should have been closed for renovation since it was unplayable. The $32 we paid was way over priced. If the green fees were $15 this would still be a ripoff. I will make sure to tell my golfing buddies to avoid this golf course. The city of Asheville should be ashamed to call this their municipal golf course.

I think for the price, this course is a real bargain. It's a City owned public course with high traffic but the staff keeps it in relatively good shape. Some work is needed around the tee boxes and some fairways have swampy areas, but it's still very playable. I wished they would have a park ranger do a bit more patrolling of the course. There are lots of kids who like to scrouge in front of players and take shortcuts, playing the course in the wrong order, being excessively noisy, hitting balls close to players ahead of them.......not very much fun when this is going on. The course needs a better practice area also. But still for the price its' ok. Club house people are nice and friendly. Starters can sometimes be grouchy but most of the time they're fine.

It is usually in great shape. I rated it so high for that reason. With that said, needs some work around some of the tee boxes and greens.

Fun course to play, typical Donald Ross out and back on the front much tighter and more undulated on the back. Pace of play not too great but you would think it would be better since they drive their golf carts practically on the green and tee boxes. Treat it like your grandfather would have, he would smack you guys if he saw you drive a cart near the green.

This is a good public course for the price. You are fooled by the flat, manageable front 9 when you make the turn to find a blind tee shot down the right side of a mountain. The back 9 is all mountain golf.

If you can find a Hot deal, take it.

Course conditions were typical of a public course. 1 or 2 holes have some breakdown on the greens.

I would recommend this course to anyone looking a for a round to play when you are in the area.
