Asheville Municipal Golf Course

Enjoy the round at Muni on Sunday. Holes 10 and 11 are finally open again, but they had a temporary green on hole 14. Would have been nice to have been told that in the pro shop or by the starter. The course continues to get better with all the improvements. Really enjoyed the new carts.

Friendly course & fun to play. Front 9 is relatively easy, flat & wide open. Back is tighter & hilly and more of a challenge. 2 holes (10&11) were closed for renovation but the end result will be great. They let us play 1 & 2 again. Well worth it for the Hot Deal.

I haven't played here in a couple months so I gave it a shot. The fairways are filling in nicely, and the greens were in great shape. To my surprise, there are some new tee boxes and new bunkers in some fairways and green sides.

One in particular is the left side of #8, a par 3. Unfortunately, my tee shot found this bunker. When I got to the bunker, it was full of footprints and there wasn't a rake anywhere. Really? No rake? (Come on guys, this isn't acceptable, even for Muni!) The sand looked like it had been dumped in without any thought to how deep it was or shaping it to the contour of the bunker. When I stepped into the bunker, my shoes buried in the sand like I was walking up a sand dune with sand filling in my shoes. I had a crappy lie but there was too much sand and it took 2 shots to get out of the bunker. That knocks one star off my rating.

Holes #10 and 11 are still closed, and the back 9 was cart path only. It wasn't wet enough to close the fairways so I don't know why they're closed. That dropped another star from my rating.

Right now the course isn't worth the premium price that's being charged. It's more like a $30 to $35 course at best. Thanks to a GN hot deal, I was able to play for substantially less.

I truly hope the course is ready for the SkyView...right now I can't recommend playing here unless you got a hot deal.

The course has improved from last year. Upgrades in progress hinder play.

Even with 4 holes closed for construction the layout made you think about your tee shot carefully. It wasn’t one of those courses where you hit driver and smash it down the fairway each time as positional shot into the green is key.

Greens were spiked and sanded so putting was easier than normal with pace being slow and reduced break. Fairways were in poor condition but as majority of maintenance was concentrated on the holes that were closed this was understandable.

For the price it was still very good value. Would play here again!

Hard to judge this course in its current state. The staff was friendly, but they have construction going on and the holes that are open are in pretty bad shape. Holes 3-4 were closed on the front 9. We were told hole 10 was closed on the back 9, but it was more like 10 and 15-17 were closed due to workers on the green. Ill have to visit this place again after the much needed renovation.

Wonderful staff and great customer service........terrible time on the course, under construction. Will wait until Fall to visit again.

Ridiculously overpriced given the horrific condition. Currently undergoing major renovation with several holes unplayable. However, decades of neglect are the real culprit. Unbelievable anyone would pay 40-50$ to play this mess. Not worth 10$.

They are currently under costruction and they have been for awhile. The greens are in good shape for the most part.

The rest is a mess. They have a lot of work ahead of them.

The first three holes you arent allowed to play. You start your round on 4 and then when you get done they let you play three or more holes.

Course under repair, but front 4-9, was great, the back still needs a little work and it will be really good if and when fairways get green and if the clumps of grass where cut down a little lower, the greens were great.

The first three holes (1-3) were under construction and not available for play. Tee off was on No. 4. No fore warning about this from Tee Off. Have advised my golf group not to play this course until construction is complete.

First, the staff was excellent and friendly and efficient.

the course is under major renovation, while that is awesome it would have been nice to know that two greens on the front were closed and several tee boxes were artificial turf. Communication goes a long way.

it was wet, but it is January and has been a wet one at that. They continue to do a lot to make the Donald Ross course good again. Holes 10 and 11 will be torn up soon to fix the drainage issue that has been a problem for years. So the staff told me. The remainder of the tees and fairways were good, dormant grass, but grass nonetheless. SOmethign that has not been there in many years! Greens rolled great.

The greens are the best part about the course right now. They're in great shape but rolled painfully slow with a lot of debris on them. It looks like they haven't been cut in a few days.

Fairways are another matter, especially on 10,11,13 and 14 with lots of bare spots, ruts, and rocks. Hole 11 needs to be closed so the fairway can be fixed.

If you can find a deal on GN, it's worth it. But it's a crime with the rates they're charging cause the course is not worth the $55-$65. You're better off playing somewhere (anywhere) else...

I’ve played this course a few time and was not impressed with anything at any point really. Only ever got a chance to play the front 9 and I’ve heard the back is better. The front holes are kind of on top of one another and next to a road. So it’s not as scenic as many other places in the area. Seems to always be busy with minimal practice area and $$$. It’s also in pretty poor shape. I know they are putting money into it but right now there are much better courses in the area for the same or cheaper.
