Asheville Municipal Golf Course

Terrible condition all around. Allowed six players to play together on top of poorest conditions. Not recommended.

Thank God, there is new management !! The course has steadily gone downhill for years, so almost anything will be an improvement. But, meanwhile, the rates published here are WAY too high for this course, until it gets better. Should never be more than $30, even on weekends.

I reserved and received confirmation for a 8:24: AM tee time. I got there a few minutes prior to 8:24. There were several people in front of me including another gentleman scheduled for 8:24. We later found out the 8:56 AM group was sent ahead of us and waiting to tee off. There was an obvious back log of players in the morning. For some reason, I was reprimanded for being late and was told my tee time was 8:16 AM. This was absolutely not the case as I had email confirmation.

The two of us in the 8:24 AM tee time were allowed to play the back 9 due to the back log of players, but the back 9 was in terrible shape. Golf cart paths were treacherous, and many of the fairways had dirt patches instead of grass.

Sad to see this once beautiful course in such bad shape.

I enjoy playing this golf course. It’s always priced low and there is normally a ton of tee times available. This course would be amazing if they got some of those hard dirt and rocky spots on the green on the back nine.

The service was terrible. I was not aware of the price when booking. They overcharged me from what was in the website and getting a refund is a pain. I will never go to this golf course again and I recommend you don’t either.

The people that work here are great and very friendly! The cart paths are in rough condition and the club house needs some love. If your just looking to play an affordable round and don’t wanna be haggled by the country club crowd look no further. You get what you pay for here, the conditions are good enough to play a fun round but also rough enough to keep away the snobs.

The course is in really bad shape. Many bare spots in the fairways and on the greens. The cart paths are in really bad shape. We booked a 12:00 tee time and had 6 groups waiting on the tee box at 12:00. We were told to play the back nine first. The pace of play and course was so bad we quit after 9 holes. Not worth the time or money.

Course conditions were abysmal! The amount of not only bare spots on fairways but also on greens was inexcusable. The front nine was decent, but all greens had either bare spots or weeds growing on the surface. Hopefully ownership will change and renovations will help course conditions. Other than that, the weather was nice.

This course needs help! Fortunately, it appears to be on the way with a new management company and a promised investment influx on the horizon. The course has a fun layout, but the golf carts are ancient and battered, and the cartpaths are more suited to 4-wheeling or technical mountain biking. Where they exist, the fairways are acceptable; and most of the greens are reasonable albeit a bit slow. At GolfNow HotDeal rates, playing this course beats several hours at a driving range…which, by the way, they don’t have.

If it’s the only place you can afford, which is often the case with myself, fine. If you have the money to play at ANY other course in the Asheville area, I would recommend going with that option. Every time I try to play this course it’s at least a 15 minute wait after every shot. There are zero pace of play regulations, with groups of unlimited size and unlimited handicaps allowed to tee off together. I played behind a group of 11 one time here. I’ve never left feeling anything but frustrated and I’m hoping this review can save you the same feeling.
