Asheville Municipal Golf Course

This course needs a lot of work. The good news is they are currently doing a lot of work. The improvements are fantastic and I’m excited they are breathing new life into a fun course.

What fairways? The greens are nice. Pace of play was unbearably slow. Poorly managed and maintained course.

Nashville municipal golf course is making so many great changes, and things are getting better every day. The fairways are uneven, but the grass hasn’t fully come in yet. They are doing amazing work on all their tee boxes and some of their green complexes. I can’t wait to see the finished product. We were allowed to hit off of one of the redone tea boxes, which was amazing. Definitely worth a trip to the course. Kudos to all the staff on all the hard work.

Paid for a single with a cart. Then was told I had to play with a random 3 and didn’t get my own cart. Then finally get a cart because the 3 were already playing. Didn’t even make it to the 2nd teebox and was asked to play with a random solo in front of me and made us share a cart.

First time back here in about a decade, and the other reviews are accurate, pretty rough shape. That being said it’s clear they’re working hard and it should be much improved in 6 months or so. The layout is GREAT and when they get conditions back on track this will be a must play; pause for now though

I know that for many golfer new to Muni they will say it is in bad shape, fairway rough or bare in place, traps well what can we say but no good, tee boxes rough. But for those of us that have played Muni for year (me sense 69) the improvements that are be done we can see what the course was like years ago. Have cut down many trees to give sun lite to fairways. Have redone 6-7 tee boxes so far and more to be done soon. Working on redoing bucker or getting rid of those that were not in the orginaly course layout.

I think that if you come back late summer or next year you will see the beginning of a course that Donald Ross would be proud of.

This is hands down the worst course I've ever played. Sure the staff was nice. But I'm showing up to play golf. Not make friends. None of the grass is a uniform length, there's mud pits every where. It's like they don't even have a grounds keeper. I wouldn't play this course if it was free.

I played it muni yesterday. They have aerated the greens, but they ran pretty good. They are doing a lot of extensive work to the course right now, so some tea boxes were closed for renovations. Overall, the course is in decent shape, and I recommend it to anyone who’s looking to play. I’m looking forward to seeing the end. Results of all these amazing changes. Thanks to the staff for all their hard work.

I know the course is going to transformation, but it still looks and plays like an abandoned course. It has a very long way to go before I will never go back.

I love this course. It’s a muni and you get what you get at a public course. But the course is being worked on (and it needs it) so I won’t be back until next spring or maybe late fall at the earliest. Many temporary tees, lots of ground under repair, WAAY too many people crammed onto the course so it was a 5:30 hr round.

Staff is always great. Layout is fun. But it’s not ready for people to be golfing on it while they’re working. Again, it needed the work so I’m glad they are, but stay away for a couple of months.

How could Asheville let this course get to this horrible condition. Donald Ross would not want his name associated with this course in this condition. The cart paths are dangerous. There are no decent fairways. The greens were OK. It is amazing that so many people play. If there were other public options close by, this course would go out of business. Hopefully new management will restore course to something worthy of a Ross designation

Golf course starter is routinely rude and very unprofessional, and gives unwanted advice and opinions. This is not the first time he’s done this to myself and others…

Course was in pretty rough shape but was priced accordingly. Should be much nicer near year when Asheville puts some more $$ into the course.

Years ago this was a great course to play. Right now it’s not much better than cow pasture golf. The Tee boxes for the most part are okay but could use more grass. The fairways are poorly mowed on front 9 and on back 9 you do well to find any grass . The greens are in poor condition on the back 9 and that is being generous. All the sand traps front and back are mud traps either full of water or no sand at all. The prices are high for a poor course management. I would only play there as a last resort. I would also like to say not allowing you to walk the course in the morning on weekends is ridiculous since as bad as the fairways are you need to keep the carts off of them. But on the other hand the cart paths are in such disrepair it’s difficult to drive down them without jarring your teeth. So get a better budget hire a grounds crew that knows how to take care of a golf course not a cow pasture. And drop your price till you actually have a respectable course . I would say the only redeeming thing about your course is an excellent snack bar. It would be nice to have a local course to play on again. For now I will drive to Hendersonville or Black Mountain to play . Sorry for bad reviews but your course truely deserves it right now. Please return it to the beautiful course I remember..

Course is in horrible shape. Fairways are dirt with rocks in most places. Tee boxes are uneven especially on the back nine. Video I posted is of the 16th fairway.

This course is a great layout. The front 9 is in good condition— they’ve lost some holes on the back. For what you pay, it’s pretty good.

Really friendly staff (except for the starter). If you’re looking for a decent muni, this is it.
