Olde Sycamore Golf Club

Have played here a number of times because its often the closest course I can get a tee-time on short notice. More often than not, its cart path only - even if its been a number of days since the last rain. The layout is okay. If you're a little longer than average with the driver, you'll seldomly get to hit it playing whites.

The shop staff and starters are always grumpy or trying to intimidate you for whatever reason even though your supporting their course that is in desperate need of repairs. On week days it seems they have a lot of open slots but let senior league/members play in those slots even though you were booked at those times so you'll end up waiting on them.

For the price, this course is not worth it. It's super overpriced considering some of the other courses nearby that are the same price or cheaper and provide a much better experience.

Course is one of my favorite in the area, which makes this last round so much more sad. Played Saturday in a 4some, best ball match play. Probably the fastest format we can play in. After 3 holes, the Marshall comes by and says we are a hole behind although I can see the group ahead of us, fine it’s 9:45 Saturday morning enjoying some coffee but I’ll hustle. Same guy comes by a hole and maybe 12 mins later and tells us to skip a hole there’s 4 groups on a hole behind us, which didn’t sound like our problem we couldn’t see anyone behind us. So we skip a hole and still finish 17 holes in 3 hours 50 mins.

I don’t know why this particular Marshall chose his actions, but they really irritated my group for no reason. I probably won’t go back out of fear I’ll be told to league for not running the length of each hole. If this guy is so concerned about time, go work the US Olympic swim trials, not Saturday morning recreational golf.

Course layout is amazing, had a great time greens in fair condition. Friendly staff and great playing with others. Could not figure out how to work the ball machine for the range that was kind of a bummer, Machine kept saying to hit the start button, but there is no start button to push lol but that was the only drawback. Cannot wait until next time. Always enjoy playing here.

I love this track! Challenging track with a ton of variety! Great staff and the pace of play is very good!

I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but the experience wasn’t the best started with checking in the guy behind the counter didn’t really care to be at work that day.

The course was dried out, the greens were blah, we paid for 9 played 4 and left. If either the course was good or if we were treated with better respect when we checked in we might have given this course another try.. but no thank you there are other courses that may appreciate my dollars and present.

You can tell an amazing course that has just fallen on hard times. This course used to be stunning and it just isnt cared for that way anymore. The greens have huge bare spots, there are a ton of unrepaired ball marks, it’s just a mid course now. It’s only worth the money when you get a Hot Deal. Used to be an $80 course, now it’s a $40 course.

Booked a Saturday Twilight Tee Time (9 Hole price of $38 w/ cart) as a single & paired with a threesome. Arrived about an 1:15 early and got out 38 minutes early (didn't book originally since extra $20). There were some problems with End of Season cart batteries and a shortage of charged carts, but got it sorted. Played the front 9 and the course was in relatively good shape. Leaves were under control, tee boxes were a little banged up (to be expected), but overall, it was in decent shape for early December.

Turned in about 2:05 with some delays in the group ahead & about 1:20 left of daylight. Hit a backup on 10 & pro gave option to replay the front 9 and took it. Rushed the Front 9 and finished 18 at sundown. Overall, was a good value for $40. Not sure I'd drop 80-90 for a prime weekend tee, but was happy with the experience.

It’s December 2023 and this place is the place to play. Greens are slick , little beat up in places, still worthwhile to play. Choose the tee boxes to suit your game!

I've played here quite a few times, one of my favorite courses. It gets a lot of play and is showing the wear and tear. Unfortunately the greens were not in great shape.. A lot of unfilled marks on the green. Pace of play was good, we finished in just under 4 hours. Could have been a little quicker but my playing partners were a little slow. Twilight rate was a pretty good deal. Will definitely be back.

Greens were patchy and in the fairways the ball sat down. The front nine is a circus act with lots of funky bs holes. I only hit my driver once on the front nine.

For this time of year the price of $59 was a very good value compared to other courses still charging at least $20 higher. The bentgrass greens are getting better from all the damage they had during the summer months but they’re still not close yet. But I can tell where they have healed up. Layout is still very good as you cannot bomb drivers all day long. No starter this day and a slow thrersome held up play a bit. If price stays down over the winter which it should then I would play again.

Greens full of divots. Fixed well over 100 over 18 holes. No surprise that multiple greens had many diseased spots. All for $85!!!
