Olde Sycamore Golf Club

The course was in great conditions except for the greens which were pretty beat up.

Nice layout, good variety of holes. Pace slower than you'd want but not bad for a holiday mid-day (4 hours 40 minutes).

The greens are a big problem--they are bentgrass and have clearly had a tough summer. Whole sections are dead, the circular cup transplants are dying, and no one fixes ball marks. So your chances of making a putt beyond a few feet is effectively zero.

Olde Sycamore is going to move to a late-fall course in my rotation--I will not play it again in the summer.

This course is insane to charge what they charge. The greens are in awful shape. This happens every year it feels like. Until they drop rates significantly or change to Bermuda I'm done getting ripped off here.

Front desk had hard time processing credit b/c they didn't have access to email. Nice but defensive and not really willing to work with me, had to go back in to get credit that hasn't showed up.

Front side greens were destroyed and burnt up. For the price which I think is overkill, not worth the putting surface.

Grounds crew though limited didn't stop while we were hitting shots, just drove right up past the green while putting.

Greens like that should take off some of the price. Worst shape this course has ever been in

Greens were in the worst condition I have ever seen. It looked like no one had even thought about maintaining them. There were cracked and dead grass everywhere. Definitely not worth the price. The fairways were fine.

They have just about lost all their greens. For $90 they are out of their minds. Do not go here for the next 1-2 years.

The course is great, it offers a challenge for players of all skill levels and abilities. The layout is beautiful, forcing a variety of different shots to score well. However, the greens are in terrible shape for such an expensive course. The round felt like a joke because of the conditions of the greens. Dead spots everywhere, no consistency in roll or speed, with some pins protected by huge dead zones around the flag. Hit one of the dead zones and there’s no way to predict how the ball will respond. Some will bounce like you’re hitting cart path, others shooting sideways, and the rest plugging.

This course is not worth the money. Several greens have large dead spots on them and they’re filled with divots. At $35-40 for 18 it would be worth it. At the price it is, never again

The greens are in very bad shape. Is this due to the very hot weather the area has seen in the last 2 months or is it just a lack of attention?

On such a hot and humid day such as yesterday it should be mandatory that the water jugs are checked every 2 hours or so. This is the second time I've played in extremely hot weather here and both times the water jugs at the T boxes were empty.

Fairways were in good shape. Some of the greens need a lot of help.

This place is probably the best bang for your buck in the Charlotte area. Clubhouse is super nice and the staff is usually very helpful and nice. Fairways and tee boxes are pretty decent and the course is just fun to play. Only note is that greens and bunkers are kinda janky but it’s not too big a deal at least for me. Green condition really doesn’t affect your putting when you three putt every hole anyways.

Played here a lot but the worst greens I have ever seen. They did let us know beforehand they were aerated, but still looked really, really bad.

Haven’t played this course in awhile. Was very disappointed to find that the greens were in terrible condition. Splotchy, bumpy and disappointing.

I played from the Whites. This made the course very enjoyable. Think it would be a much greater challenge from the Tips...maybe next time.

First off, I love this course. Always have. This isn’t limited to any singular incident either. The pace of play has been awful and the ranger seems to do not hug about it. When you consistently have 3 groups waiting on a par 3 there’s a problem. Yesterday there was a group playing extremely slow and to top it off they would each stop to hit an exploding golf ball every few holes. Yet the ranger drives by a few minutes later and says nothing. Then there’s the course conditions. For $99 on the weekend and asking people for $10k upfront to join as a member. You would think the course conditions would be top notch.

Always enjoy the layout of Olde Syc. Blue tees make you work every club in the bag. If you’re not dialed with your woods, expect a tough round! Extremely popular course and the greens are showing it… dead grass sporadic throughout - which for a course charging $94 seems extremely unfortunate. Might be the time to renovate!! Staff is great, professional, and fair. Pace on the weekend is abismal though. Expect a 5+ hour round (avg of 5 rds). If you’re in Charlotte you gotta play it, but ensure you got a buffer for your plans after.

A course that charges more than $90 during peak and has absolutely terrible greens. The local munis around Charlotte are in better shape that Olde Sycamore. Had an absolutely slow foursome in front of us and saw a ranger multiple times but it didn’t improve anything. I won’t be back until the greens are fixed.
