Greens not so good
Greens need some help. Course seems over watered. Not due to recent rain but irritation.
We apologize for the condition of our greens. The bent grass greens have suffered recently due to a combination of increased play, heat, and rain. We are working hard to have them back in great shape over the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding and hope to have you back out this fall when the greens have healed up.
Rough greens poor preparation
Fairways and, most of the tee boxes are in good condition but all of the greens are really rough. It was very difficult to get a feel for speed of greens because they were in such terrible condition. There was also a wedding going on so the kitchen was closed which is fine but then the cart girl only had a couple of bags of chips and a few granola bars and no liquor for mixed drinks. If you are going to close the kitchen for an event you need to have better preparation for the cart girl with pre-made sandwiches and more chips. The pace of play was the worst I have ever seen, it took us over 5 hours to play , we only saw the Marshall once and he didn’t say anything to us or the group in front of us. Was very disappointed at how far this course had fallen, next time I’ll play somewhere else.

Course is in great shape but some of the greens are burnt up.

Greens Terrible
I was not happy with my round. Typically, the course is a little slow on a holiday but it should not have taken 3 hours to play the front 9. The ranger did a poor job enforcing the pace of play. By the time I reached the 11th hole, it had been 4.5 hours of play and with 7 holes left to play, I decided to quit. Trying to putt on greens that were in horrific shape and the extremely slow pace, I was not in the mood for hanging out another 3 hours. In my opinion, this course was over rated. The only comforting thing I can take away is that I paid $7.54 by using one of my $21 vouchers.
Hello RevHJay. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff.
Great course
This course has a wonderful layout with many challenging doglegs and hazards that make you play smart tee shots rather than just hammer away. Course is in great shape except the greens were just aerated, sandy and unpredictable, but that should be better soon. The price is hard to beat!
Thank you for your review, u000008104648. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Covid 19
I still look forward to 150 post markers. The cart guys are too nice wanting to help me unload my cart but with Covid 19 they need to stay away and not come almost shoulder to shoulder with you.

Nice Course
Like the layout but was told at check in that they top dressed the greens. This was needed as the greens are not in good shape. Made it very diffricult to putt for the day. Hopefully, thye greens will recover.

Decent value
Course was in pretty solid condition until you got to the greens. They were either sandy and bumpy or soft with mud spots making almost all the greens pretty much impossible to putt on. Also ended up teeing off 20 minutes late because we had to wait on carts to become available

Greens Were Terrible
The greens were in such terrible shape that I did not finish my round. I quit at the 11th hole. Although there was a ranger on the course the pace of play was awful as well. I am not interested in playing this course again.

Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Awesome layout & staff. Every year they continue to over-water the greens and hope for a new result. Between the layers of algae/fungus, pitch marks, cratering debris, as well as non-repaired pitch marks on the greens; which are worse than any mini - what makes this course worth more than the cart fees? They can’t even maintain their mowing equipment to provide even heights and appearance throughout the general area. Hope that you get to putt one day when ALL of the greens have been mown. But it is fun to toss a 3-foot chip and watch it stop within 3 inches!

Slow play & green and tee box over played and tired
5 hour round with carts at 7:54 am on a Saturday? Really? Not to mention the greens are beat up marks everywhere and several you might as well call it a 2 putt. Love the course normally played many rounds. It is a shame To have such slow play!

Use To Be In Better Shape
Fun round, but the overplay and summer has took this course down a couple of grades. Greens and tee boxes were in the worst shape I have seen them in the 15 years I have been playing the course. Hopefully some time and this course will be back up to par.
Hello Forereal. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff.
Terrible greens
Great rate, but the worst greens we've on this year. They have to do something. Some of the blame goes to the players who fail to repair their ball marks. The rest of the course is in great shape and the layout requires thought and shot making. A lot of potential, but until they solve the greens, we'll play somewhere else.

150 Yard Markers
I am old school and like to see a 150 post in the fairway to gauge how far you are to the green.... it speeds plays.
I know phone apps and range finders have become the norm but gold can be more fun if you rely on your own sense and do not have to search for the 150 marker that may be overgrown, etc.
You did not address the 150 yard post / markers.....

Avoid for now
Took 45 minutes to get carts for our tee time group. Tee time was 1:36, teed off about 2:15. I know things are tough with COVID but no other course has seemed to have this problem. The staff was 100% friendly about it but it just looked disorganized.
The greens were very sub-par for this course. They have likely lost #2 for the year if not more.
You can find better value right now.
