Jones at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center

Let me begin by saying I have played the Jones course at Sea Trail Plantation 20 or more times. The layout is wonderful with much variety. My friend had the Trail card which allowed a guest to play for a an additional fee. When he showed the Trail card, he received the Trail card fee, but I was charged 10 dollars extra than the guest rate. Regarding the course, the tee boxes and fairways were excellent. The bunkers needed sand and were not in good shape at all. The greens were extremely slow, they had not been mowed in quite a while and whoever was cutting the holes for the flags must have used a serrated blade. Every single cup was ragged on the outside of the edges all the way around. The next day, I went to the clubhouse along with my friend who had the Trail card and explained to the associate at the pro shop counter what happened regarding the extra charge the previous day. She was very receptive to the situation and offered me a discount for my next round. *Regarding pace of play, no Ranger was working the course. The foursome in front of us were very slow and did not offer to have us play through. No one was in front of them for several holes.

Fairways and tee boxes were decent. Greens were in poor shape. Many sand traps were more dirt, with an occasional tree root, than sand. There are definitely better options in the area.

Have not played this course in awhile. Afternoon round. Carts were the best. Pace was great. No waiting.

Weekend golf should have fresh pin placements.

Excellent and beautiful course. I always enjoy playing here. Staff are amazing, very friendly, and helpful. Greens were in great shape, even though they had been punched 3 weeks earlier.

Just two recommendations. First, please build a driving range. Second, please put better sand in the bunkers (was more dirt and hard).

Course was in great shape, but they had a lot of rain and we were cart path only. Greens had been punched maybe 10 days ago and they were mostly healed up, except for a few spots on some holes.

Nobody around and 4 of us breezed thru the round. Great value and fun layout.

Once greens grow back it will be a 5 star but still 4 star right now

Came to Sunset Beach for a quick beach trip and found this fun track. Drought has been bad up here so fairways were dry and grass wasn’t ideal but certainly playable. Greens were in decent shape, cart paths weren’t as bad as some of the reviews I read. Staff was great - tons of people playing so front 9 was slow but still finished under 5 hours. Would recommend playing - not a long course but holes are not easy.

Really fun course with a great layout. A little tough getting around and finding tee boxes. The greens were a little rough on the edges due to the drought. Lots of wildlife.

Heard so much good stuff about this course and was excited to play. It’s evident they’ve been struggling with water. The course was super dry and played that way. The greens were in horrible shape. Large dead spots on nearly every green. It appeared like they were trying to save them by not mowing them as there were all shaggy at best. After playing Leopards Chase the day prior, we were all greatly disappointed. Glad we got the “hot deal” and didn’t pay full price.

We played this course in the fall. Conditions were perfect and the course was as well. However, winter took its toll on the greens. Lots of winter kill. I would be hesitant to pay full price. We got a discount with a special card. When the weather warms up and the ground gets above 70 degrees to greens should come back quickly, unless they are planning a renovation. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly; even the ranger was helpful. Love playing here, just waiting on the greens to improve.

Have played this course many times over the years and am sad to say that this will probably be the last time due to management decisions to ruin this course to convert every inch of the property into brand new Ryan homes put up in record time. While I’m sure this decision has benefited sea trails financially the course has completely lost its character. Holes that used to be protected by large pines have been cut down and made soulless and are now covered with cookie cutter homes with no tree cover. Even the new clubhouse renovation seems soulless, looks to be modeled after a corporate office and not a golf course clubhouse. The greens were in disrepair on the jones course but apparently they are replacing these next month (wish I would’ve known that before booking my round). On a side note the new golf carts are really nice.

Multiple greens were in rough shape. Played here for 30+ years. It’s been in better shape before. Front nine greens were slow. Back nine were a little faster, might half been not mowed in a couple days. For 99.00 per round I’ve had better. I’ll continue to come back, great course.

Amazing layout and views but the greens aren’t great but they seemed to roll true. I shot 73 from the tips so it definitely isn’t bad but probably not worth the money.
