About
Lion's Paw Golf Links is an open, hilly course that treats the golfer to spectacular views of a beautiful creek valley and its adjoining wetlands. A wild and untamed layout, Lion's Paw features deep sugar white sand bunkers and MiniVerde greens.
A stunning 23,000 square foot clubhouse serves both Lion's Paw and Panther's Run golf courses and offers residents and visitors the perfect place to ready themselves for the upcoming challenge on the links. Designed with a safari theme, the clubhouse includes a full-service pro shop, a snack bar and Tamers Restaurant and Lounge, an elegant dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Lion's Paw has been described as Willard Byrd's finest work. Part wild, part rustic and quiet, this magnificent course presents a lion's share of adventure and breathtaking scenery.

Golfer Reviews
5+ hour round
Very slow play, only saw ranger on hole 3. Bunkers are in poor shape; no sand, not raked anytime recently, poor drainage. Greens were in pretty good shape. Would pay full price for a round here in current condition.
Lions paw
For $55 it is definitely worth your money. Fun little layout, more challenging than it looks. Greens were spotless. A few tee boxes were a little rough, but not enough of them to ruin your day.
Good layout
Love playing here have been coming to Ocean Isle Beach for last 7 years always make this course a stop !
Lion's Paw Fall 2026
We played Lion's Paw on a whim when searching GolfNow for places to play in the Myrtle Beach Area. The price drew me. The 45 minute drive did not.
the course could be a beautiful track with some water. For late September I would have expected near perfect conditions, but not. It may be Mother Nature as their ponds were down severely. Like bone dry in places.
The pictures are deceiving, but it was a fun day with the couple of locals they paired us with.
Time of year
Staff was nice. Green were very fast. Bunkers are solid and hard. Overall, not a bad course to play!
Will be back
Have not been to Ocean Isle in years. Really enjoyed the course and will play again when back in the area.

Nice course!
I loved it. First nine tighter than the second nine.

It has been along while since I played Lion's Paw, like 25 years +/-. It was fairly new back then, and it has matured nicely!. Great course, conditions and layout, plus very friendly staff.

Great Price
The two other big cats get the notaries. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the course conditions and greens overall. It isn't an extremely difficult course, but it also isn't a walk in the park. It has plenty of hazards.

Great Day at Lions Paw
Booked this course for a visiting friend. So this review is based on our conversation after the round. The course is in great shape. From tee to green! Pace was right on. My friend shot his second career low of 78. You wouldn’t be able to do that if the fairways and greens weren’t in great shape.

Nice greens fun layout
First time playing, greens are bent grass really nice.
Layout fun. Staff was really impressive. Greeted us at our car for clubs. Got our 2 some off early ahead of 12 player group. Pace of play great around 3 1/2 hours. Only area a little rough was fairways. Sometimes hard to tell the difference between fairways and rough. That said played the ball down all day and can only recall one bad lie in the fairway. Overall an enjoyable track and would recommend and play again.
