Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
Great weather, excellent conditions, friendly staff, superb value
Oak Hollow provided another outstanding golf experience yesterday.
I walked 18 holes at senior rate for $14, a great value and excellent exercise.
The staff is always friendly. Rick booked my time and checked me in. He is always helpful, friendly, and professional.
Grill shop staff member John is friendly. I had my Arnold Palmer (unsweet iced tea and lemonade).
Course conditions are excellent from tee to green. The greens are rolling smooth and slow. I missed a few chips, which on a Pete Dye course (the only municipal course he designed), will roll back to your feet.
Made 2 pars, both with sinking 8 foot putts, on holes # 3 and 5. A testament to smoother greens.
Pace of play was great, 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes as a single player.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow as a top municipal local course. Great value, scenery, friendly staff, combined with excellent playing conditions.
Love the front, the back hates me!
Really enjoy this course. Great greens, fantastic fairways and tees that accommodate any type player. The front nine is both scenic and inviting. Very few blind shots and plenty of landing areas. Now the back nine. It plays like an angry stepchild. Tight fairways, lots and lots of blind shots and undulating fairways. Better score on the front because it can double on the back. Will return and go again. Great job to the maintenance crew also.
Spectacular course!
I love mountain courses, and I love lake courses, and this course is the best of both. Every hole is beautiful, the surroundings are beautiful, the fairways and greens are perfect. If you can play here, you really should. Just one of the most enjoyable rounds I’ve had in years.
Nice Course, Friendly Staff
This is a great course for the price. This a not a long course but require precision with your shots. It's a true Pete Dye course. The staff was beyond friendly and made the experience even better, especially the starter the day I played.
Oak Hollow best course I’ve played
Course was well taken care of and beautifully laid out.
Great weather, excellent conditions, friendly staff, superb value
Oak Hollow delivered another outstanding golfing experience.
Rick in the pro shop, Joe the ranger, John and Angie in the grill, are all helpful, friendly, and professional.
I started on the back nine, per Joe's instructions. Holes #3 and #4 are closed due to construction so it was a 16 hole round.
Conditions are good from tee to green. You can see that the maintenance crew is working hard to keep the course looking nice.
I went out by myself and played in 3 1/2 hours, a great pace.
Great value yesterday at $12 with cart, using a $10 online coupon.
For scenery, friendly staff, challenge, and as a bonus, beautiful weather, Oak Hollow is a top area public course.
I recommend Oak Hollow highly as a great place to play golf.
Greens are filling in very nice!
Course is in good condition and only going to get better. Staff was friendly! Ready to go back already.
Not bad, not great
Snagged a Golfnow tee time, which was pointless according to pro shop employee. He made sure we knew that. Ending up paying 40 bucks to play on dirt, dead grass, and plinko greens.
Was not notified of aeration of greens and fairways. Poor sanding of the greens further made putting pointless.
Great layout and beautiful lake scenes, but conditions were mediocre at best. Will definitely try it again during the summer, I’m sure the conditions will be much better. The best part of the day was a ranger who saw me driving across the fairway during carts on path, even thought it was bone dry outside. When I told him I wouldn’t drive on the grass, he replied, “what grass? What fairway?
Until the summer, book with caution.
Not handicap accessible
Straight to the point. I’m a surviving cancer patient and wanted to enjoy one of the first days that I had enough energy to explore outside again so I decided to try golf. I decided to go to Oakhollow golf course due to the beautiful lakeside view. Big mistake due to very unfriendly workers and a unwillingness to accommodate a handicap person. I was aggressively approached by by two off duty janitors employed by Oakhollow dirt course complaining about me a handicap person driving around steps because they were not handicap accessible. I was then aggressively escorted off the course. Do not wast your money at Oakhollow dirt course if you are handicap because they are definitely not ADA compliant. I’m in the process of contacting the ADA department to see if they can help me play golf at OAKHOLLOW DIRT COURSE..
Under repair?
I did not make the 50 minute drive to the golf course due to the 100% threat of thunderstorms shortly after my teatime. Also on the Oak Hollow website they talk about closing two or three holes for major repairs starting March 17. I did not know about the repairs and the fairway and green aeration prior to paying for my round, so unfortunately golf now would not give me a little bit of credit back.
Oak Hollow
I cannot really rate this coarse fairly, because the fairways and greens had been air rated. It was cart path only and every hole is a blind hole. I would like to play bit again when it is in good shape.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow delivered another outstanding golf exprience.
Robert , in the pro shop, is helpful, friendly, and professional.
Great value on Tee Off.com at $19 for 18 holes with cart.
Joined up with 2 nice players for the round.
Greens were just aerated. Smooth but slow. This will help in future rounds because the green speed will be consistent.
Holes 4-6 are very scenic and challenging.
Nice to play the only Pete Dye municipal course in North Carolina.
For challenge, scenery, friendly staff, and great value, I highly recommend Oak Hollow to everyone.
Slow
Pace was dismal. I walked off on hole 12. It'll be a while before I go back. Need a ranger out there to keep the pace of play reasonable.
Consistent
Course continues to be at the top of my list for the money- Staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate.
Wet and wild
As always, the front nine greeted me with great lies and courteous greens. However the back, with its wet fairways and always uphill made it a challenge.. Will return no matter what
Thank you again
Cool weather, good condition, friendly staff, great value
Oak Hollow provided another great playing experience on a cool day.
Friendly staff, combined with good playing conditions and nice playing partners, contributed to a wonderful round.
Pace of play was outstanding for a foursome (including 1 walker) at 4 hours for 18 holes.
Cart paths only due to wet fairways. I may consider walking Oak Hollow in the future, especially in the winter. Plus it is great exercise.
Greens were in great shape, rolling quicker and smoother than usual.
Oak Hollow consistently provides an excellent playing experience. This course offers beauty, challenge, and variety.
Make sure to play to the correct side from tee to green. The only Pete Dye municipal course in the state, Oak Hollow offers outstanding value.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow.
