Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
Greens are filling in very nice!
Course is in good condition and only going to get better. Staff was friendly! Ready to go back already.
Not bad, not great
Snagged a Golfnow tee time, which was pointless according to pro shop employee. He made sure we knew that. Ending up paying 40 bucks to play on dirt, dead grass, and plinko greens.
Was not notified of aeration of greens and fairways. Poor sanding of the greens further made putting pointless.
Great layout and beautiful lake scenes, but conditions were mediocre at best. Will definitely try it again during the summer, I’m sure the conditions will be much better. The best part of the day was a ranger who saw me driving across the fairway during carts on path, even thought it was bone dry outside. When I told him I wouldn’t drive on the grass, he replied, “what grass? What fairway?
Until the summer, book with caution.
Not handicap accessible
Straight to the point. I’m a surviving cancer patient and wanted to enjoy one of the first days that I had enough energy to explore outside again so I decided to try golf. I decided to go to Oakhollow golf course due to the beautiful lakeside view. Big mistake due to very unfriendly workers and a unwillingness to accommodate a handicap person. I was aggressively approached by by two off duty janitors employed by Oakhollow dirt course complaining about me a handicap person driving around steps because they were not handicap accessible. I was then aggressively escorted off the course. Do not wast your money at Oakhollow dirt course if you are handicap because they are definitely not ADA compliant. I’m in the process of contacting the ADA department to see if they can help me play golf at OAKHOLLOW DIRT COURSE..
Under repair?
I did not make the 50 minute drive to the golf course due to the 100% threat of thunderstorms shortly after my teatime. Also on the Oak Hollow website they talk about closing two or three holes for major repairs starting March 17. I did not know about the repairs and the fairway and green aeration prior to paying for my round, so unfortunately golf now would not give me a little bit of credit back.
Oak Hollow
I cannot really rate this coarse fairly, because the fairways and greens had been air rated. It was cart path only and every hole is a blind hole. I would like to play bit again when it is in good shape.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow delivered another outstanding golf exprience.
Robert , in the pro shop, is helpful, friendly, and professional.
Great value on Tee Off.com at $19 for 18 holes with cart.
Joined up with 2 nice players for the round.
Greens were just aerated. Smooth but slow. This will help in future rounds because the green speed will be consistent.
Holes 4-6 are very scenic and challenging.
Nice to play the only Pete Dye municipal course in North Carolina.
For challenge, scenery, friendly staff, and great value, I highly recommend Oak Hollow to everyone.
Slow
Pace was dismal. I walked off on hole 12. It'll be a while before I go back. Need a ranger out there to keep the pace of play reasonable.
Consistent
Course continues to be at the top of my list for the money- Staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate.
Wet and wild
As always, the front nine greeted me with great lies and courteous greens. However the back, with its wet fairways and always uphill made it a challenge.. Will return no matter what
Thank you again
Cool weather, good condition, friendly staff, great value
Oak Hollow provided another great playing experience on a cool day.
Friendly staff, combined with good playing conditions and nice playing partners, contributed to a wonderful round.
Pace of play was outstanding for a foursome (including 1 walker) at 4 hours for 18 holes.
Cart paths only due to wet fairways. I may consider walking Oak Hollow in the future, especially in the winter. Plus it is great exercise.
Greens were in great shape, rolling quicker and smoother than usual.
Oak Hollow consistently provides an excellent playing experience. This course offers beauty, challenge, and variety.
Make sure to play to the correct side from tee to green. The only Pete Dye municipal course in the state, Oak Hollow offers outstanding value.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow.
Nice course!
The course was in good shape. Greens are in good shape but people please fix Your ball marks on the greens!
Beautiful course
Absolutely gorgeous fairways were in excellent shape and greens were in beautiful shape sand traps were nice but we didn't play due to covid and no rakes picturesque course some tough holes but it was our 1st time so... we will definately play here again winter rates are super
Classic Pete Dye course for cheap
No course is going to be perfect at the beginning of December, but overlooking the conditions, Oak Hollow was a joy to play. It's a classic Pete Dye design, a few short holes to warm up, some challenging, yet scorable holes on the front to get your hopes up, just to crush you on the back. It was a little wet and carts were path-only, but I really enjoyed the layout. The holes on the front by the water provide you with a beautiful view and menacing tee shots. The winter rates were extremely reasonable, which also came with a $3 voucher for the grill room. I went out on a cool Friday morning and only had a handful of people in front of me. Got done with the round in 3 hours. Greens were a little slow but in great shape. Really looking forward to checking this course out again when the weather is better.
Horrible!
This is the worst golf experience in my life. Pace of play was atrocious; waiting 10 minutes in between holes. Pace of play was so bad walkers were on our backs all day. Greens were the worst I’ve seen. Ball marks all over the greens. Very said to see this is a Pete Dye course but these golf profession has completely let the course go. Up keep for the course is about non-existent. Will never come back or refer friends.
Nice Course
Our threesome played on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. There were a number of walkers so the round was slow, we did not get in all 18 holes. You must ride 2 to a cart but there is a divider shield. Some greens had bad spots but the fairways were in good shape.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow delivered another outstanding golf experience.
Had an earlier tee time (8:20 a.m.) delayed by frost until 9:00 a.m. Cold morning so purchased winter golf gloves at a good price in the pro shop upon checking in.
Loosened up on the putting green. Had a nice chat with the starter before the tee time. He did indicate that I would be joined up with a single player. At that time, there was no mention of us joining up in one cart.
Just prior to the 9 a.m. start, my playing partner and I were informed that we would be riding in the cart together. We were surprised, especially with protocols surrounding the Corona virus.
The starter did give us the option for a cart with dividers. We declined (I already had my stuff in the cart and there was a group directly behind us).
There is a sign by the pro shop offering the divider cart option for safety. I would take the divider cart next time.
My playing partner and I kept our masks on the entire round, staying safe.
The course was in excellent condition, with the greens rolling faster than usual. Oak Hollow has made great strides in playing surfaces from tee to green.
Oak Hollow staff, especially Eddie, is always helpful, friendly, and professional.
The course is beautiful, with holes 4-6 along High Point Lake. Oak Hollow provides a wonderful golfing experience.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow as a top local course to play.
