About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Beautiful course
Absolutely gorgeous fairways were in excellent shape and greens were in beautiful shape sand traps were nice but we didn't play due to covid and no rakes picturesque course some tough holes but it was our 1st time so... we will definately play here again winter rates are super
Classic Pete Dye course for cheap
No course is going to be perfect at the beginning of December, but overlooking the conditions, Oak Hollow was a joy to play. It's a classic Pete Dye design, a few short holes to warm up, some challenging, yet scorable holes on the front to get your hopes up, just to crush you on the back. It was a little wet and carts were path-only, but I really enjoyed the layout. The holes on the front by the water provide you with a beautiful view and menacing tee shots. The winter rates were extremely reasonable, which also came with a $3 voucher for the grill room. I went out on a cool Friday morning and only had a handful of people in front of me. Got done with the round in 3 hours. Greens were a little slow but in great shape. Really looking forward to checking this course out again when the weather is better.
Horrible!
This is the worst golf experience in my life. Pace of play was atrocious; waiting 10 minutes in between holes. Pace of play was so bad walkers were on our backs all day. Greens were the worst I’ve seen. Ball marks all over the greens. Very said to see this is a Pete Dye course but these golf profession has completely let the course go. Up keep for the course is about non-existent. Will never come back or refer friends.
Nice Course
Our threesome played on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. There were a number of walkers so the round was slow, we did not get in all 18 holes. You must ride 2 to a cart but there is a divider shield. Some greens had bad spots but the fairways were in good shape.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow delivered another outstanding golf experience.
Had an earlier tee time (8:20 a.m.) delayed by frost until 9:00 a.m. Cold morning so purchased winter golf gloves at a good price in the pro shop upon checking in.
Loosened up on the putting green. Had a nice chat with the starter before the tee time. He did indicate that I would be joined up with a single player. At that time, there was no mention of us joining up in one cart.
Just prior to the 9 a.m. start, my playing partner and I were informed that we would be riding in the cart together. We were surprised, especially with protocols surrounding the Corona virus.
The starter did give us the option for a cart with dividers. We declined (I already had my stuff in the cart and there was a group directly behind us).
There is a sign by the pro shop offering the divider cart option for safety. I would take the divider cart next time.
My playing partner and I kept our masks on the entire round, staying safe.
The course was in excellent condition, with the greens rolling faster than usual. Oak Hollow has made great strides in playing surfaces from tee to green.
Oak Hollow staff, especially Eddie, is always helpful, friendly, and professional.
The course is beautiful, with holes 4-6 along High Point Lake. Oak Hollow provides a wonderful golfing experience.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow as a top local course to play.
Beautiful Course Hidden in High Point
Multiple beautiful holes lining the lake. Very dramatic greens and overall a lot of fun to play. Only negative I have is that I was forced to share a cart with a stranger I was paired with. They have maybe 5 carts with a plastic divider in between but this still didn’t provide me with the most comfort. Would definitely play again, might consider walking if carts are an issue in the future.
Beautiful, Scenic, But...
Great layout, scenic and well kept. Nice staff, great price but...pace of play a little slow and most of all, it’s Pete Dye. Don’t know the motivation but he always wants to make something really pretty and nice, way too tough for an average golfer. So I don’t recommend this course unless you’ve played Dye courses and know what you’re getting into.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow continues to deliver an excellent golf experience.
Great value on Tee Off.com at $17 for 18 holes.
Staff is always friendly, helpful, and professional.
Cart paths only due to recent rain. Wet but very playable.
Did not have my best short game. This course, being an original Pete Dye municipal design, requires precise, creative shots around the greens.
Scenery is always outstanding, especially holes 4-6 around the lake.
Greens are on the slow side, so an adjustment from a faster track.
Oak Hollow is doing a great job keeping golfers and staff safe during Covid-19, adhering to all safety protocols.
I highly recommend Oak Hollow for everyone.
Good condition, friendly staff, scenic, great value
Oak Hollow provides a consistently excellent golf experience.
The staff is helpful, friendly, and professional.
Oak Hollow has done an outstanding job during Covid-19 keeping golfers and staff safe.
Playing conditions have improved tee to green. Putting surfaces are slower, making an adjustment necessary from faster tracks.
The scenery is outstanding, especially for an avid outdoor photographer (me)!!!! Holes 4-6 around the lake stand out, providing beauty and challenge.
Oak Hollow, being the ONLY Pete Dye designed municipal course in North Carolina, Is a gem worth playing many times.
Be aware of the contours from tee to green. Have your top short game for pitches, chips, and putts. Not many level lies on Oak Hollow!
I highly recommend Oak Hollow as a top public golf course with excellent green fees, scenery, challenge, and friendly staff.
Up and down
Before you tackle this layout work on your up and down game. Tremendous fairways rarely leave a level lie. Once on the small and angular green be ready for subtle breaks. Ball speed is critical. Many thanks to Louis who directed me through the blind approach shots. I highly recommend this course for it natural beauty and competitive layout. Staff was friendly and accomplished. Thanks again!
Great weather, excellent conditions, friendly staff, superb value
Oak Hollow was in great condition yesterday.
I got a great deal on Golf Now. With coupon, my round came to less than $5!
Friendly staff, nice playing partners, greens in better condition, and good pace of play combined for an excellent golf experience.
Cart paths only due to rain the day before, making for a lot of walking. That's OK. I need the excercise!
Can definitely a marked improvement in overall course conditions, especially the greens, since I played recently.
For an overall excellent golf experience, I highly recommend Oak Hollow.
Tough course.
Course is in good shape! They're punching greens next week but they rolled fine today. Take advantage of the front because the back is still tough as nails, but still a must play in the Triad!
