Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Challenging course
Enjoyed playing but it is demanding. Would get better after a few rounds as you learn the placement. Staff very friendly. Would definitely come back. Excellent value.
A tough test for a first time visit
Course is in great shape but it is a tough test if you don't hit the ball in the right spots. Large greens and wide enough fairways, but don't miss in the wrong places or be ready to pay for it. Beautiful views along the lake and a well prepared course, we had a great day.
Beautiful Dye Design
Such a fun course! One of my favorites bang for buck courses. Played the tips, they have some really unique tee shots and every hole provides a new experience. Greens ran a bit slow but it made for fun approach shots trying to stick em close. Lots of holes along the water, great snag for a $20 hot deal. Played 18 by myself in a little over 2 hours! Only had to play thru 3 people all very friendly.
A fair challenge
This course has a great mix of shorter and longer holes as well as tight and open holes. Course was pretty well manicured and the greens had a good pace to them. I hadn’t played here in a long time and was pleasantly surprised by it. Will be back.
Great layout, average conditions.
Played Oak Hollow today and I love the layout. It has a good variety of types of holes. Long and short, doglegs both ways. Tight and pretty open. It helps to have played here before. There are several blind shots and that makes finding you ball harder. The holes on the lake are beautiful. I think it helps to play a fade. I generally hit a draw/hook and it got me in trouble several times. Most of the trouble seems to be on the left. The greens have full coverage and roll a little bit slow but pretty smooth. The fairways are in ok shape. There are a few bare spots and some GUR just off some the fairways. The tee boxes are decent. A little chewed up but not bad. It’s a fun course to play. We paid $39 for a Sunday morning round. At that price or less it’s worth playing.
Great course
Great course, course in good shape, friendly staff, great value. What I don’t understand is that there were 2 rangers on the course yet the group in front of us took 4:30 to finish their round and were routinely 2 holes behind the group in front of us.
Very nice course , has it challenges but excellent course
Frustrating
The greens are slow. It's basically impossible to get a flat lie anywhere on the course. If you're not hitting the ball perfectly you will not have fun, it is frustrating. All of the staff are VERY FRIENDLY but there are other courses to play that are more fun for the casual, intermediate golfer.
Great Round Poorly Played
This was a fun round playing with my son and two strangers on a very nice course with several very memorable holes. The course was in very good condition with the exception of some bunkers that were in need of sand. There are many very picturesque holes with abundant water challenges presented by the adjoining lake. I wish I could say my play matched the caliber of the course but it wasn't even close. Unfortunately for me, it is not a course that is very forgiving of really poor shots. I do not live in the area, but if I do have an opportunity to play again in the Triad, I would definitely like to have another shot at Oak Hollow.
Rude staff
Rude guy at the clubhouse. The starter is a jerk. Poor customer service
DISSAPOINTED
Oak Hollow is by far one of my favorite courses in the area. I have played it more than any other course and usually its in great shape. This was the first time I have played Oak Hollow and left feeling very disappointed in it. Very little is any grass in fairways, greens in rough shape and tee boxes needed more grass also. I am hoping it was because of the cold winter but we have had rougher winters in the past and the course was never in this bad a shape. I am hoping this was just an anomaly and the course will be in great shape in a month or two. I will still play this course because the layout is beautiful and if you want a peaceful round to enjoy golf and scenery this is the course for you. Again usually this course is very well maintained and hopefully this was just an anomaly. But I will always come back since its one of my favorite courses.
Oak Hollow
Greens are in pretty good shape...needs a little more grass on fairways. Overall, beautiful course.
Saturated but greens playable
After 5 inches of rain in five days, course was very wet, but greens putted well and overall course was in better shape than expected after so much rain.
Great layout
This course has lots of very scenic holes, pretty and still very challenging.
Play Somewhere Else
Course was in terrible shape. The fairways were bare and the greens were not very good either.
This is just the first 11 holes, more on that below
Played on a Thursday, and it took 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 11 holes. At that time, myself and my playing partner left the course. It was a really nice day for once, but there is absolutely no excuse for that kind of pace of play during the week.
The starters and ladies in the snack bar were friendly, the only bright spot to that day.
Oak Hollow is only 15 minutes from my house, but I have no plans to go back.
