Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Nice Day on the Greens
What a nice course, played with new friends. It defiantly challenges your game, but fun. The only negative was it our fellow golfers would learn to FIX their divots. Definitely will be back!⛳️
Oak hollow
Great layout, scenic, challenging, especially the back nine. Course and greens were in excellent condition. Looking forward to playing this course again.
Fair and Challenging
This course is an excellent value. Tough and tight but fair...even though there are some hike to hit over there's no 'gotchas' lurking on the other side.
Greens are in excellent condition. Fairways are a bit thin in places but overall the lies were good and since I like tight lies, the thin lies didn't bother me.
Few will remember that many years ago Golf Digest rated Oak Hollow as one of the 100 best public courses in the United States. It's an early Pete Dye design and, although it doesn't have alot of the Dye signature features of his later designs (railroad ties, severe plateau greens, long sweeping bunkers the entire length of the hole) those that are familiar with his courses will recognize the severe drop-offs at the edges of many greens, gathering areas, and precision shot values required of any Pete Dye design.
Would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Oak Hollow Golf
Great value with friendly staff and some interesting holes. Bit rough around the edges but overall nice track.
Early Pete Dye test in HIgh Point
This is one of Pete Dye's early designs, situated along the shores of Oak HOllow Lake. Generally small, sloping greens, rarely do you get a flat lie in the fairway.
Check your ego, if you shoot twice your handicap, you played pretty well.
Letdown
Folks... this is one of my very favorite courses in this part of NC. This time around, I was really disappointed, and the Oak Hollow staff can only blame themselves. Firstly, my partner and I arrived 45 minutes early, so I asked if we could get an early start. An emphatic ‘no’ was the reply, as they were fully booked. Ok, I get it. So as we waited for our tee time, a couple walked up to the started and told him that they weren’t on the list, because the manager just agreed to work them in (the started actually looked over at us sheepishly). After we did get on the course, there were 2 groups ahead of us - 1 group of three and 1 group of five. Both groups had players very new to golf, which is great. It’s not great that rangers and other course personnel kept riding by, and saw these folks hit numerous mulligans and go back and forth across the fairway retrieving errant shots. No one said word one to them about pace of play or courtesies. They also didn’t encourage either group to allow us to play through. Ultimately, the front nine took 3 hours, so we left and probably won’t return for quite a while. Needless to say, I’ll spend my money (and time) elsewhere for a while.
Pete Dye Layout
Today, the greens were very slow. I may wait a few weeks before returning. In general, I love the golf course layout, and normally the conditions are usually good.
Tough
I'm not really a good golfer but I found it to be a tuff course lots of water so bring extra water. Overall had a great time
Excellent course
The course was in good shape considering all the rain we had the day before. Of course there were places with standing water and the course was very wet but the greens were in excellent shape.
A Pete Dye design
In this area rainfall has exceeded the average rainfall by 20 inches. The course was wet but the greens are in very good shape. A hilly course and most greens are elevated. An old school tough golf course. Views are specular. Many of the holes surround the lake and the water just adds to the experience. Super course.
Awesome course
Played several times over the years, this time I was very disappointed that there are several hard pan bare spots adjacent to the the greens. My ball found these spots and cost me dearly. My approach shot on 14 hit one and bounced out of bounds. Not an expensive fix but one that needs to be addressed. There is also a large area of hard pan in the fairway / rough on #8. Same problem , ball landed there and deflected into to trouble.. Lost several shots because of these issues, we play it down so it was very unfair to my effort. Greens were rolling good and at a speed that makes the course fair with the slope on the greens.
