Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
Very nice course , has it challenges but excellent course
Frustrating
The greens are slow. It's basically impossible to get a flat lie anywhere on the course. If you're not hitting the ball perfectly you will not have fun, it is frustrating. All of the staff are VERY FRIENDLY but there are other courses to play that are more fun for the casual, intermediate golfer.
Great Round Poorly Played
This was a fun round playing with my son and two strangers on a very nice course with several very memorable holes. The course was in very good condition with the exception of some bunkers that were in need of sand. There are many very picturesque holes with abundant water challenges presented by the adjoining lake. I wish I could say my play matched the caliber of the course but it wasn't even close. Unfortunately for me, it is not a course that is very forgiving of really poor shots. I do not live in the area, but if I do have an opportunity to play again in the Triad, I would definitely like to have another shot at Oak Hollow.
Rude staff
Rude guy at the clubhouse. The starter is a jerk. Poor customer service
DISSAPOINTED
Oak Hollow is by far one of my favorite courses in the area. I have played it more than any other course and usually its in great shape. This was the first time I have played Oak Hollow and left feeling very disappointed in it. Very little is any grass in fairways, greens in rough shape and tee boxes needed more grass also. I am hoping it was because of the cold winter but we have had rougher winters in the past and the course was never in this bad a shape. I am hoping this was just an anomaly and the course will be in great shape in a month or two. I will still play this course because the layout is beautiful and if you want a peaceful round to enjoy golf and scenery this is the course for you. Again usually this course is very well maintained and hopefully this was just an anomaly. But I will always come back since its one of my favorite courses.
Oak Hollow
Greens are in pretty good shape...needs a little more grass on fairways. Overall, beautiful course.
Saturated but greens playable
After 5 inches of rain in five days, course was very wet, but greens putted well and overall course was in better shape than expected after so much rain.
Great layout
This course has lots of very scenic holes, pretty and still very challenging.
Play Somewhere Else
Course was in terrible shape. The fairways were bare and the greens were not very good either.
This is just the first 11 holes, more on that below
Played on a Thursday, and it took 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 11 holes. At that time, myself and my playing partner left the course. It was a really nice day for once, but there is absolutely no excuse for that kind of pace of play during the week.
The starters and ladies in the snack bar were friendly, the only bright spot to that day.
Oak Hollow is only 15 minutes from my house, but I have no plans to go back.
Highly Underrated
One of the best courses in the triad. Great variety of holes with elevation changes. Greens were recently punched but in previous visits they were fantastic
Course Conditions
Green were being prepped. They had alot sand. Slowing down the ball and bouncing when putting. I guess normal for the season.
Love Oak Hollow
Once again this Pete Dye course is fun to play. Challenging but fun.
Better Than Expected
What a pleasant surprise! This course far exceeded my expectations. What a really fun layout! Conditions were good and played quickly. A Pets Dye layout no doubt. Will be back!!
A great Pete Dye design in High Point, NC. The greens are rolling great right now!
Don't let "Muni" fool you, this is a great place
Loved the course - municipal it may be. Good spot.
The first hole to me was probably the most boring. After that, a lot of really good golf holes, including multiple holes along Oak Hollow Lake, making for some great views, challenging/unique holes.
The course is also in good shape. Just a legit layout.
Heard from some regulars that the pace of play is often quite slow. Try to pick a time where you think it may be less busy (I lucked out on that).
Got paired up with a good player and a good dude! Had a great time. Joined a two-some ahead of us for the last couple holes. 18 is a great hole.
Great day, great friend, nice conditions
Oak Hollow always offers value, scenery, challenge, and a friendly staff.
Playing for $13 per golfer with my friend, it was a perfect weather day. The fairways are lush and great to hit approach shots from.
Greens could be better. Spotty condition is due, in my opinion, to golfers not fixing ball marks and a failure to pick up their feet.
Tees do need more grass. Perhaps, in the spring, this will improve.
Holes 4-6 around Oak Hollow Lake provide beauty, challenge, and in my case, a few "redistributed" golf balls!!!
Great course for an avid photographer. I have taken several nice images of Oak Hollow.
Where else in North Carolina can you play a Pete Dye original for green fees under $30!!!
The starter is from my original area of the Northeast and we get along well.
I would highly recommend Oak Hollow to everyone who wants a course that is worthy of playing several times!
