Sly. S
Course was a little wet because of all the rain this winter. Greens are one of the best in the Charlotte area. I will be going back.
One of Charlotte’s Best
The greens were moderate speed and after lots of rain the course was fairly dry. The toughest hole is #3 par 4, use your go to safe shot to stay if fairway and avoid the out of bounds markers on right side cart path. Hole #12 par 5 will get you a birdie.
Fast greens, fun layout....
Greens are very fast and in good condition. Fairways are decent for this time of year but the rough around the greens could use some work. One of my more favorite courses to play around Charlotte.
Great golf course!
I’ve been regularly playing at Monroe Country Club for several years. Great golf course, friendly staff and probably has the best golf instructor in the Carolinas!
Wet
Carts path only.. fairways were good, typical winter conditions.. Still the best greens around, just way too much play
Visible yardage markers?
The greens were as advertised, some of if not the best in the area. The pace of play was fine, although it took some time to get started due to " a couple groups of slow players" (per the starter). Of course when you're group is not striping it down the middle of every fairway and, more often than not, looking for errant shots or 3 putting the pace slows a bit. Unlike many courses there are no vertical/upright yardage markers and the fairway plates aren't always near enough to estimate distances (from the rough). The front 9 is a classic old school design (Ross) with small greens that reward good shots and repel those that aren't. There are a couple winding fairways and enough trees to block access to the green when not on the proper side and some greens are tiered and others undulating, thereby increasing the difficulty. The second 9 is not as demanding of precision off the tee or on the greens but still offers plenty of opportunity for higher than normal scoring. I recommend the course for golfers of all abilities.
Quick greens
Front side is an early Donald Ross design with very small, fast, undulating greens.
Back side is different design, plays much longer than front. Good test of golf all around .
Great Course
Started with friendly staff and continued with wide fairways, easy rolling greens, and a good pace of play considering they were completely booked for the day! Would definitely play this course again when visiting this area of NC.
Back 9 Greens NOT Great?
Usually the back 9 greens are fantastic but today was the first time all year the front 9 greens were in better condition than the back 9. Very curious & upsetting.
Love it
Course in great shape and the greens are ridiculously fast. Back 9 plays easier than front and that is a good thing! Great value for the $.
Disappointed
As always I love playing here. Always in great shape. Today I was really disappointed. There was a nice crowd for a holiday. From the 2nd hole on we were stuck behind a fivesome (which included an employee of the course). They never offered to let us path even there was multiple holes open ahead of them. We waited on almost every tee box. This should never happen on a holiday. I hope the course Makes sure there are no more fivesomes.
Top Public Course in Charlotte
Monroe CC is one of my favorite courses in the Charlotte area. Great layout and amazing greens. They must have punched the greens about 10-14 days ago, but it had little effect on the speed. Downhill down grain and that ball will roll off the green if not properly judged. Keep these course conditions up and I will continue to recommend this course and drive 40 minutes to get here. Only recommendation would be to create a tee set (white/blue mix) that plays about 6500 yards.
Fun course
The course was in great shape. Greens where fairly quick. If you’re walking beware it is a hike from 9 to 10. This round 9 was closed so we played 7 over from 180 yards to make up our missed par 3. Definitely will play this course a lot.
Great Course on Hot Day
The course is in excellent condition from tee to green. The greens were fast. With a tee time before 8am, I normally finish in under 4 hours. This time it took a little more than four because the group in front were spraying balls over the place. No biggie. Just noticed it more, because it was a hot day. This course is a great value considering the price and condition of other courses. I'll be back soon.
Like the front 9 but love the back 9
Greens & layout on the front 9 are just weird
The back 9 is much more golfer friendly
Excellent condition & the price is right
