Fast Greens With True Roll
Greens roll true and fast. They are soft enough to land your shots from a far but again their fast! Great staff!!
Fantastic Greens
Probably some of the best greens I've played on in the area. Rest of the course needs a little bit of love, but I'm sure by next season it will be in top shape. Great turnaround story for this course. Great friendly staff as well. Highly recommend.
MCC worth the drive
I am biased because this is the course I cut my teeth on, but it nevertheless deserves the high praise. Front nine is a Donald Ross original, of which there are fewer public designs this well maintained. The layout is a little tight but the greens are in great condition year round and provide Ross's standard strategic challenge. Holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9 are particularly strong holes. The back nine is Tom Jackson, more wide open with larger and less challenging greens, but equally sound conditioning. Playing number 18 as the sun is setting is always a treat.
Another Great Round at Monroe CC
Greens were great as usual. They do a great job keeping leafs under control.
Great value! Great feel!
Great course, tricky greens that Day. Firm and fast on the front 9. Soft and slow on the back 9.
This course has challenging greens
This course is in good condition with tough greens
Perfect course conditions
Enjoyed a Hot Deal at Monroe CC for the second time. Fairways and greens are in perfect condition. Weather was perfect. Front 9 has small Donald Ross greens...tough to hit, requiring good chipping skills. Back nine has more modern feel with bigger greens. Pleasant staff both in clubhouse and on the course. New carts are expected shortly. Points to note...200 yard marker in fairway is red instead of blue. Practice range is not close to course. Snack bar is limited.
Great Shape
The greens were immaculate and course was in great shape. Very enjoyable roud.
Always a great choice .
Our weekly group returned to Monroe on 9/9 which is part of our normal "rotation". Greens are in excellent condition, as always. Did not select five stars for course conditions due to some areas of the rough and fairways needing minor attention but nothing that impacted the game. Staff is usually friendly and welcoming but we especially appreciated Brian and Nick this week after our group expanded beyond the number of players we had reserved and a full tee sheet. Be back soon.
Nice public course
I regularly play this course and enjoy it. Greens are fast and some are difficult to read.
Course was in fantastic condition from tee box through the green, greens smallish and fast great value will play there again I like courses that give you undulations on the fairways
Jem
Great course, must play. Greens are always perfect.
Had a blast!
First time playing Monroe and I am so glad I did. I absolutely loved the place. I gave the course a lot of 5-stars in individual ratings, particularly for the condition of the fairways and greens. Snacks at the turn were self-serve hot dogs and pre-made sandwiches, but I was completely ok with that. I was there to golf, not have a 4-star dinner. The snacks were very reasonably priced, too!
The front nine, Donald Ross I believe, was mature in the best ways possible. The trees lining the fairways have no doubt been around for a long time and no doubt have a lot of stories to tell. No offense to Ross fans, because I mean this in a good way, the course reminded me of a 1925 A.W. Tillinghast-designed track I used to play years ago.
It's not a long course but the elevations, crowned greens and bunker placement will make club selection a thinking person's game.
Staff was great. Very friendly.
I actually felt bad playing here on a hot deal. The course was worth more than we paid. We will be back.
Great Experience
Course was green and in great condition for mid summer in NC.
Hot Deal made the round that much better.
I'll be back
Great course although not suggested for beginners...Greens challenging. Small and well hidden by bunkers, so irons and short play are key.
First time playing the course but definitely plan on returning.
