I'll be back
Great course although not suggested for beginners...Greens challenging. Small and well hidden by bunkers, so irons and short play are key.
First time playing the course but definitely plan on returning.
Great value!
This course is a great value. The front 9 is a classic Donald Ross design. Very challenging around the greens. The back nine is a Tom Jackson layout, and is more of a challenge tee to green. I like getting two different looks in one round of golf. The greens are always in good shape here and the tee boxes are well maintained as well. The only drawback of this course is that the range is a long way from the clubhouse. Plan accordingly.
All about the greens.
This course is always in great shape. I am in no way a good golfer (low 90's) but this course offer forgiving enough fairways to make me feel like I know what I'm doing from time to time. Probably some of the most challenging greens I've played in my short time living in NC.
Great layout
The course was very wide open and forgiving. Although the greens
had been just recently aerated they were still in pretty good shape.
Just moved into Union County and will definitely be playing here
again
Very fun and forgiving course. Played back tee but felt short. Green speed was faster than expected after heavy thunder storms the night before. The ground was extremely soft so my irons felt short(expected after heavy rain), but the course was beautifully maintained.
a good round of golf ruined by staff...
First of all I was sent out alone? no problem. there was a 3 some behind me with a female to slow them down.no problem. I was at least 3 shots ahead of the group behind me at ALL times. never did they ever have to wait on one shot NEVER!!! after the 4 hole the ranger who must have been board to tears or is just a old dried up old man? rode up to me and told me I was playing to slow? I ask look behind me? no one was there? I ask him who was I holding up.i was only 1 over after 4 holes...then like 2 holes later he was there again with his worn out red shirt...so faded!! he told me to speed it up.again I ask him who was I holding up? look back is anyone waiting on me to hit? NO!!! he must have followed me for half the front nine. confronted me for no reasons. just to ruin my day. maybe it was because I have a few tattoos? so what I was in the 82nd AIRBOURNE and proud of it...we went though a lot...but I did my job and got half my leg almost tore off. along with me foot being crushed .it took 5 serious operation to get me put back together.i had a 13 year lay off from golf. thought I would NEVER be able to play again. I LOVE GOLF!!! I have played sine 1979..i started back in 2013.like starting over.it was good for my head and my soul and my body.i ask for no sympathy just remember when you see a handicap flag on a golf cart it may mean more than you think..on the back nine I was harassed by a BIG ole country boy.who either was a cop off duty or missed his calling? I dared to ride in the rough even with my flag.he was waiting for me out of nowhere he jumped all over my butt.TOLD ME TO GET OFF THE COURSE? that the policy was 4.5 hours for 18 holes? 3 for 9 holes.Monroe for you.3 and 3 is 6 hours? hahahah!!! a joke.a shame because it is a fun course and the greens roll true.I will return I hope the are nice the next time.If you go out alone your always a target!!! anywhere!!! I think I am owed free round! called golf adviser told they were sending me a dozen golds balls where are they??.I hope this is put up for all to see.thnis is a city owned golf course not a golf course for the locals to have for there private enjoyment. IT IS A PUBLIC COURSE PAID FOR AND RAN BY THE CITY OF MONROE NC. not the so called employees? be nice be happy I was there.i bothered no one! but I was bothered at ever turn! for no known reason? if you can not deal with the public get a desk job...if you can?
Different 9's, like playing two courses.
This was my second time playing Monroe. The Staff has been excellent, very friendly and helpful. Their food provisions needs some attention. The two 9's are like playing two different course which makes it a great test as a player needs to make adjustment. Will play as often as I can and will recommend to others.
Great Day and course
Course was in good shape and greens where even better!
Reasonably priced and challengingenough!
Beautiful course; relaxed environment; great golf for reasonable price!
First time at Monroe
Never played this course before, but would gladly come back another time. Friend told me that they said the greens were going to be some of the best around, and they were not lying. And the pace of play was amazing. Finished 18 in under 4 hours!
Great course for the cost
Second time I've played this course and it's one of the best values in the area. Greens were in perfect condition. Moderate course difficulity and the pace of play was outstanding.
Best Greens I've Played On this Year
Even with winter grass conditions, these are, by far, the best greens I've played on in this area. The sand traps could use some more sand. Many of them were just dirt (very little sand). The person behind the counter at the pro shop didn't seem to care one way or the other about me wanting to play their course. If you haven't played here before and want to use the driving range, be prepared for a half-mile cart ride from the clubhouse and a long walk over a bridge.
Monroe Country Club winter play
Green's in good shape with challenging pin placements and roll true and fast. Definitely need to keep it in the faraway on this course, but fair faraway sizes.
