About
River Ridge Golf Club is one of the finest public golf courses in Raleigh. The course sprawls across 100 acres in the heart of the Triangle, it's an easy 15-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. The lush green of the course contrasts beautifully with the Carolina blue skies. Mature trees frame most of the holes and there are a few lakes that come into play. The rolling terrain provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The course's signature hole is the par-4 fifth, a 375-yard hole that can be conquered with smart play. Try to keep your long iron or fairway wood to the right of the fairway, which will give you a short iron approach into the green.

Slow pace
Greens fast, a lot of leaves still on the fairways and off for being late December. But for golfing in Dec. Was great.

This has always been one of my favorite courses. Many challenges and many opportunities to score. Course management is crucial. Some holes are tight and water and creeks come in to play often. Greens are always in good shape. Beautiful and tough finishing holes.

i had played the course several times before i decided to join as a member over a year ago. i joined for several reasons. I played competitive golf in my younger years. im in my 50’s now and still play well.I wanted a challenging course. I play the back tees which are plenty challenging. No boring down and back holes. Very interesting and strategic layout. 4.5 stars by golf digest holds true! The course is always in great condition. The staff is awesome as well. Head pro Monty and the entire staff go out of their way for you! It is a great value as a perk. The practice facility is awesome . I dont think there is a better course in Raleigh for what they offer. Best public course in Raleigh in my opinion. I grew up on a country club as a kid that hosted the senior US open. I highly recommend it!

Good track to play, but beware.....
There are some tricky greens out there. The course is fair and in good condition for dormant Bermuda. One hole was pretty wet and was path only and should have been. Hilly course but the true defense was the greens. There are a lot of breaks and variations in them. Be in the right spot and par is pretty easy. While a wrong spot and bogey or double comes into play. A little slow out there today as pace was about 4.5 hours for 18. Staff was very friendly. I would recommend and look forward to playing it again.
Good course/conditions-AWFUL STAFF
Like the course, well conditioned, good value. OMG the pro shop staff however. ‘Masks mandatory in the pro shop’ signs on all entry doors. Three staff members at desk, no masks. Asked them to mask up before I came in, identified myself as an MD. Response: ‘None of us r sick’ . My answer: You have no idea if you have virus. STILL NO STAFF PUT ON A MASK. Not a game we’re playing here! Why I quit medicine-you cannot cure stupid. Typical rural NC- very sad.

Very nice course
My only complaint is the 5 hour pace of play. Course was beautiful. Greens are fast and challenging.

Continues to impress
The guy in the pro shop told us the course was behind since they had a tournament out on the course. There were a LOT of golf carts around the club house and on the putting green. So we were looking forward to a very slow day on the course. But when its was all said and done we played in just over four hours, which is long for this course, but much better than we anticipated. We waited on some holes but not very long. The course was in great condition.
This is a secret in the area. Great layout, excellent pace of play and reasonable priced.

Great Track
Great layout and almost always in great shape. One of the best places to play in the triangle. Tee boxes for all levels of players. Lot’s of character. Be back soon. Hope y’all check it out soon.

Hidden Gem.
After a wet week the course was in great shape. Cart path only today, but pace of play was excellent. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great condition. A few sand traps were beat up but given the rain and Covid not surprised. Will be back.
