About
River Ridge Golf Club is one of the finest public golf courses in Raleigh. The course sprawls across 100 acres in the heart of the Triangle, it's an easy 15-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. The lush green of the course contrasts beautifully with the Carolina blue skies. Mature trees frame most of the holes and there are a few lakes that come into play. The rolling terrain provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The course's signature hole is the par-4 fifth, a 375-yard hole that can be conquered with smart play. Try to keep your long iron or fairway wood to the right of the fairway, which will give you a short iron approach into the green.

Course was in great condition. Staff is always really friendly. Really good course for the price!
Great conditions
RR has yet to disappoint. The greens held well and were very quick and smooth-stay under the hole. Good variety of approaches to keep the round interesting. The fairways were in great shape and defined by a moderate rough. Traps were good too. Only Covid change is limiting the range balls included in the greens fee to a small bag.

had a great time at River Ridge. Course was kn great shape. The greens were smooth and fast. I would definitely recommend this course.
Best value for the money in the entire area.
This course is one of the best in the area. Pace of play is very important to us and we have never had a longer than 4 hour round here. Also the course is maintained like a private course with challenging holes for every level of play. A real gem.

Re-visited an old friend and very pleased
I haven’t played here in about a year. The course was in the best shape ever in all the 20+ years I have played it. Greens were impeccable, fairway grass excellent, tee boxes very good. No review is too credible if you say everything is perfect. If you are a big hitter off the tee (I am not) you won’t like the number of times the course will make you grab an iron. Also some of the hole markers need replacing. Other than that, I will be back soon.

Very Slow Pace of Play
Grueling 5+ hr round with no ranger to move things along. 2nd time here and same experience, I won't be back. Must have bots to get a 4 star rating, 4 stars it is not.

Fast greens, tough pin locations
The course was in pretty good shape overall. The course is not overly long and you had to hit less than driver on a number of the holes. The pin positions were in very challenging locations, if you were on the wrong side of the hole a 3 putt was nearly guaranteed. I will definitely be back to play again.

Staff not customer friendly
The course is nice for a public GC. Play was slow and ranger was not willing to assist, basically blew us off. Maintenance guys ignored us, one drove right by us to prep a green side bunker as we readied to hit our approach shots.

Hurricane warning took us out
We were really excited to play this course. However torrential rain hit the area ahead of hurricane Isaias and we could not play. Pro shop personnel were great and as dismayed as we were. Will definately return for another attempt when the weather cooperstes.

Another 4 hour round at River Ridge
Usually when a course is in the condition River Ridge is, you can expect it to be jammed. But we consistently find ourselves playing at normally busy hours (9:30) and breezing around the course in four hours. We played as a foursome with two members and waited on the 18th fairway for 5 minutes. Other than that we just got to the tee, hit away and played the hole. The greens are tricky in the sense that you will read a break that is not there and vice versa. Fairways and tee boxes are perfect. Always a pleasure to play this course
