River Ridge Golf Club

I’ve found that River Ridge has a unique mix of golf holes that can challenge any level of golfer. No two holes resemble another. The par threes all pose various challenges with different elevations, some water hazards, an uphill pin with a two-tier green, and tee boxes that bring many clubs into play. The par fives demand you either avoid water on your second shot or avoid well placed bunkers. Going for the green In two is definitely risk vs reward. The driving range has recently been upgraded and range balls are fresh and cleaned when picked. A bag of range balls are included with your green fee. I appreciate the staff at the pro shop who are courteous and professional. The grill is a place for great hot dogs, sandwiches, and burgers. Overall, I am always impressed with my time at River Ridge. Regardless of your skill level, you will not be disappointed.

This golf course has everything: speed of play, excellent conditions, challenging layout with a variety of, tee boxes to suit every level of golf, free warm up bag of practice balls, short game area, the whole package. One of the things I like about the set up is the first tee is distanced from the club house so you don't have a gallery surrounding your first shot of the day.

The course was in tremendous condition. We played in 3 1/2 hours. The course takes coronavirus safety precautions very seriously and I felt completely safe. The layout offers a variety of holes that are both interesting and challenging. The greens are fast and require accurate approach shots because breaking downhills puts can easily get away from you.

I've played River Ridge many times. Great track, usually super conditions, good value. Last played on 7/1/20, much to my surprise was the total aeration of the course. When I made my tee times a week before no one mentioned the aeration to me. If I had known of the conditions I would not have booked the time. I also know this is aeration season. I would expect a course of their caliber to inform customers of aeration so they can decide how if they want to play. Paid full senior rate, no discount for the aeration.

But what really disappoints me is I sent an email to Monty the head pro explain the situation. All I asked is he inform his staff to tell customers making tee times if there has been recent aerations. Never got a reply.

Tough course. Greens not in great shape and played like plinko all day. Played the back tees with a couple par 4s around 480 yards. Fairways in good shape and the layout is interesting and pretty challenging due to slope.

Great layout. Greens have a lot of slope and it would have played much more difficult had the greens not been so slow due to recent aeration.Well worth the drive to play there.

Overall good but wish I knew the greens were aerated.

It would be very nice to be notified before I show up that the greens are being aerated. There was no alert on golf now and also they didn’t even lower the prices, so we had to play the back nine twice in a row for full price.

Today was my first time playing this course and it will be my new go-to course! The condition of the course was great, the staff was friendly, and the overall value was great! I would recommend this course to anyone

Nice day. Reasonable course conditions but the group in front of us had no clue about courtesy and pace of play. One player was getting lessons from his partner( 150 yds out) while the other twosome was on the Green

Unacceptable.

Need the ranger to do their job.

The course is beautiful. Great layout. 2 or 3 holes where you need to hit irons of the tee, but otherwise the course is driver-friendly. Greens were in good shape but extremely slow.

Where do I start? The great greens, lush fairways, challenging approaches or just a fantastic course. Paired up with two Jr. High vice pricipals who made the day even better. Can't wait to return. Thank you!

This is my 3rd course that I’ve been to. Loonie Poole and RGA I played at. I would say this is my favorite course so far. Challenging at times but also fun for an intermediate golfer like myself. The course was very well maintained. I don’t think I had one complaint about it. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall great experience.

My husband and I played the course and loved it. New to the area, but our favorite so far. Would definitely recommend and play again. Possibly join.

I’ve played here 4 times the past few months along with 4 or 5 visits to the practice area. It’s very convenient to me from our house on the east side of Raleigh. The range is definitely adequate, all grass. Sometimes the hitting area can get worn out but they put effort into keeping it up. It also has 2 practice greens, one for chipping and a large practice bunker, the other for putting.

You can typically find a friendly starter in the area calling people in from the practice area, as they do include a small bag of range balls, which is a separator among the competition. The staff inside the clubhouse has been hit or miss. A few times I’ve been put off by some rudeness.

The course was in great shape yesterday. The rain hadn’t overly impacted the course. Fairways still had decent roll and the greens were in tremendous shape. Also, there are some massive greens. Be prepared to 3 putt if you don’t hit into the correct tier. The layout is tremendous in my opinion. It’s not driver off of every tee. Hazards and doglegs force you to use different clubs and different shapes to score well. That being said, it’s not impossible either. It’s a nicely balanced course.

Pace of play is a mixed bag like most places. Yesterday we got done in 3:20. I’ve also been there when it’s crowded and ran almost 5 hours.
