MetroWest Golf Club
About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

Horrible golf course - impossible
No way, It looks like the business went bankrupt.
Impossible to play! Not recommended. Sad experience…
Where’s the grounds crew?
Weeds of every variety from tee box to greens.
Putting was more like a game of Plinko off the crabgrass plugs. Really expected more out of a $79 round.
The worst course of my life
Horrible. There were weeds all over the course. If you missed the fairway there was no 2nd cut your ball was lost in the unmaintained rough. The cart boy that may have also been the ranger was rude and yelling at several different groups of golfers. It was so bad that we quit on 12 drove the cart to our vehicle and left it there in the parking lot for the obnoxious cart boy to get. I would normally never do something like that but it was that bad. I will never be back.
I had fun
I went out as a single as there wasn't the full tee sheet to require a starter. Staff was nice loaded me up and sent me out. Course was good for the amount of drought you've had in Florida. Greens weren't the best, but not bad either. Wide open with few surprises, but scorecard didn't have the layout pictured, so like, I didn't know there was water on the right on the first par 5 until after I hit my second shot. My biggest complaint is that I missed a couple holes on the back after I completed the 13th and went under the road, I must have jumped onto the wrong hole. There were no signs to alert me to the next hole.
Horrible disgrace
I played this course today with my wife.
We drove 1 hour and a half to get there and paid in advance $147 for the reservation.
I heard this course was the place to go around Orlando area to have a great time on a beautifull golf course.
I have been playing for 39 years since i was 14 years old back home in Canada, on over 150 courses in Canada and the United States.
This course was probably the 3rd worst golf course conditions that i withnessed as long as i can remember...
I sincerly dont remember paying so much money to play golf whitout having no pleasure at all.
Even the trash were full on the course, the bathrooms smelled like not being cleaned for days and even a tractor was left on one of the holes on the back nine behind a tee box.
I dont know what is going on at this course but i can tell you this. This course is long gone compares to the pictures on the wall inside the club house.
We paid an amout 4 times higher that i usually pay back home on 4 stars courses.
I think its a shame to see a golf course with this passed reputation, fall like this.
Fun course
This is a fun course to play. Greens were ok not good but playable. Fair ways were firm and fat which is good for me.
Definitely a recommended play.
Good layout
Greens are in horrible condition. Similar to putting on a Chinese checker board. The ball just bounces across the green removing all of the energy out of it. If create temporary greens on every hole and fix the regular greens before allowing paying patrons to be forced to play on those.
Not good
Paid $84 to play at 12:16pm. Being a member at deer island I only played to meet up with some buddies in a central location. A non-member could have driven out to play a high quality course like deer island for about $60 at that time. Metrowest is worth about $35 to play in current condition. Course conditions really bad. Some greens have more POA than Bermuda grass. Balls bounce across the green. Although greens were terrible, fairways and tee boxes were only slightly better. Haven’t played here in a couple of years. Won’t be back until course makes drastic improvements.
Needs much work
I first played here 25 yrs ago and enjoyed the course. Still a nice layout but course conditions have been allowed to deteriorate to a point where a lot of money and work will be required to bring it back to it's previous glory
Loved the layout and features and maybe at some point the course was in good shape but the greens were horrible and patchy and even the fairways were not maintained well and patchy Off the fairways was bare and uneven.
I also thought the deposit was towards the green’s fees but it turned out it was a fee to GolfNow to make the reservation on line. Next time we will call the pro shop directly.
Nice long course in good condition
Really enjoyed our first visit to the course. Pace of play was excellent. In general the course was in good condition for this time of year. Greens were good despite what other reviews had said previous to our visit.
Nice big open fairways to really let rip with your driver and plenty of opportunities to use your fairway woods. Challenging par 3s if playing off the blue tees. Plenty of restrooms on the course. Would definitely play again.
Guy at the desk was great
Yes, it was slow, but it's gold in central FL in prime time. It's the same everywhere alse unless you spend over $150/
Never again
This course was in horrible condition. There are weeds everywhere including a good portion of every green. It was like cutting on newly airrated greens. It appears that they painted the Fairways and greens with green coloring rather than actually fertilizing.. This is a $35 course, not an $80 course.
They've lost it again.
Everyone locally knows this is a formerly great course. I played this a few months back and although the course was still rough the greens were great. Now that is not the case. They have completely lost half the greens, and overall the entire course is dry and in bad shape. I think $29 is a fair price for Metro's current condition. $79 is a slap in the face. Gonna take a lot to get me back here.
Slipping
Past couple of years the course maintenance had improved...unfortunately it appears that appears to no longer be a priority. Greens are not up to snuff. Tee boxes are even worse than the greens. Fairways are below average as well. I realize we recently had a freeze in the area but the course is once agin slipping into goat ranch territory.
