MetroWest Golf Club
About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

Back from the dead
I loved MetroWest when I first played it. The layout is challenging, but not extreme. Then it fell on hard times.
Now the greens are excellent, tee boxes are not so good, and fairways are almost there. The occasional bad lie can be fixed with winter rules. One appearance factor that makes things look really bad when they're actually not is the presence of tall weeds scattered through the fairways and green surrounds. They are major league ugly, but in fact have little effect on play. A bit of spot roundup will make things look a lot better.
Fairway condition’s disappointing
Played Metrowest earlier in the year and was impressed by the vast improvement in course conditions. This visit was disappointing as most fairways have lots of dirt patches and weeds. The roughs are mostly weeds and tall grass. Tee boxes and greens were ok. I’ll wait to play again when I hear fairway conditions are getting better.
Needs a lot of work
The course does not have enough carts or doesn't manage them very well. We were 10 minutes late teeing off because they did not have a cart for us to use. Once we finally got our carts, we received 2 carts with the low battery light flashing. We had to drive back to the clubhouse and wait again for 2 more carts. Once we finally got underway, our round played smoothly and pace of play was really nice. The course itself was in tough shape. The greens were great though (that's the only highlight). A lot of the fairways are a mix of dirt and spotty grass. We just moved our balls to a spot with some grass on it. We payed $59 for a midday round, and this course simply shouldn't call for that rate with the state the course is in when compared to others in the area where you can pay the same or even less for a much higher tier experience.
If you can get this course on a discount, I'd take it, but if not, I'd play somewhere else.
No carts!!
Tried to play metrowest today. Had an 11:30 tee time and arrived early, by noon they still did not have any carts. There were 4 groups ahead of us waiting for carts, so we got a refund and left. Not a good look for the golf course! They said they had a lot of carts down for maintenence.
Metro west
Greens were in good shape, tee boxes and fairways are much better than they were 3 months ago when I played there last.
$39 was a great price, not too many people on the course played in about 3 1/2 hours.
Everyone was very friendly
Nice course for the value
Really nice layout, we were a twosome teed off on a Tuesday at 7:20 and was done by 10:30am. Greens were in great shape, sandtraps are nicely manicured and raked. The fairways are a bit rough, but you can always find a grassy spot to hit off of. Yes, the fairways could definitely be nicer, but for the value its fine.
Overall a very fun track to play. We played the Blue tees (the one before the tips), and it was about 6500 yards. Shot right at my handicap which is about a 7.
Great layout but poor conditions
Was looking forward to playing this course for the first time but the majority of the course was riddled with weeds including tee boxes abs fairways. The greens were in great shape at least. Service at course was hit or miss. In morning couldn’t get anyone to provide food/beverage service but at turn the two new employees there for the day were fantastic. Overall a great track that needs a lot of attention to the grounds.
Improving
The course is now playable. Greens are all good. Fairways are fair and improving. They finally brought the price down to the value of the course.
I will bring my group to play again later this month.
Good times
Course was good greens were fast , but some fairways needed a lil work. But overall good
Course in dire need of repair
The course was in horrible condition. Bare spots, diseased burned out grass , uneven terrain, and aesthetically displeasing. No water available on the course. When asked …. We don’t do that since COVID. The rate was average to play but offers no Junior rate. For a course in this condition, juniors should be free or severely discounted.
Wasn’t expecting this - no members bounce
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of this course. Was really well taken care of. If there was anything to complain about it was 2 things.
1) car paths could use some serious work throughout but this isn’t a big deal.
2) these GREENS are MASSIVE and the pin placement the day I played was insane. The greens ran like it was a PGA tour excellent but man they were tough. Was a min 2-3 put day for almost all holes. Hard to complain about great greens but this course was pleasantly surprising and I’ll be back.
Fair course value if you don’t expect too much
All staff great, outside services, “pro shop”( can you call it that?) and F&B- friendly and service oriented
Greens and most tees in good shape, bunkers too
Fairways so so- lots of invasive weeds
Pin placement signage not updated when I played. On course restrooms really bad. No water on course, no bev Cart on a busy day- it’s apparent management is running on fumes.
A starter would pay for itself in terms of managing tee shoot and pace of play. Too many singles and doubles allowed out on a busy morning
Fair price
Nice Course, fairways and tees need work
Overall the pace of play was great. Played with three gentlemen that guided me around the course. Greens and traps were very good. Course needs to work on the tees and fairways.
