MetroWest Golf Club
About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

The course is improving.
Management is making efforts to improve the course. Some tee boxes and fairways still need work. The greens were recently aerated and coming back nicely.
MetroWest
Great layout, friendly accommodating staff, greens in good shape, fairways in bad shape right now. Mediocre review due to conditions of fairways, a lot of bare spots.
Greens were punched a few weeks ago and are playable- they should be great in about a week. The bunkers are terrific since they were reworked. The staff is friendly and very helpful. That is the good - the bad is the fairways- they are reverting back to weeds and bare spots. It is not fun when you are in the middle of the fairway and end up on a patch of dirt. The range is the same, the only good lye is when you tee it up. The tee boxes are ok,but as you typically put the ball on a peg, it is not that big of a deal. The course is playable, and was priced as such. If you’re looking for “pristine” look elsewhere, if you’re looking for value- metrowest might be for you- But remember, you typically get what you pay for.
Greens were very good, tee boxes and fairways were weedy and lots of dirt. Tee boxes not labeled at all.
Great Staff
The staff was friendly and great however the course was a bit difficult to navigate. There were not any signs telling you what hole you were playing
Some of the holes needed work on the fairway but overall it was good.
The value for the money was great and the lunch deal was a must
Overall I enjoyed my time
Good Layout, Bad Course Conditions
The COurse LAyout is great, how the course is integrated into the city is fun but the course condition is very bad. Most of the fairways are in bad condition with empty patches or crabgrass, need a lot of work.
Not worth full price
I hadn't play the course since the new ownership and remodel. The front and back are now switched (i.e., old front 9 is now the back 9). Overall course was not in good shape. Sparse grass on fairways, exposed soil, lots of weeds.
We got 50% off for weekday play plus another 20% off coupon. For under $30, it was worth it. No way I'd pay the $99 regular rate.
The clubhouse is still undergoing renovations. Feels like that's been going on for more than 2 years. Slow play, so when we finished around 3:30-4pm, the restaurant had already closed.
Definitely Fun
The fairways have been discussed in a few posts and many of the a fine but several need help. This course has hills and that makes growing grass a challenge on some of the holes. The greens are excellent. The bunkers are excellent. If you enjoy a truly wide open layout with a shot at the greens from just about everywhere your tee shot lands then this is a great course.
If a golf course was a receding hairline
Mostly dirt fairways, a few exceptions. Greens were okay. The starter was very worried that our cart parked off the path in the shade was the reason for the courses conditions. The same trees have been down since last summer and the “conditions” are diseased grass and soil, not cart wear. The range is always the same, who knows where to aim or what the distance is. Also, there’s literally no yardage markers in the fairways, no signs or hole designations, any GPS system won’t recognize which hole you’re in because it constantly changes, but the squirrels were nice and they had ketchup for the burgers.
