MetroWest Golf Club
About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

Too early to invite players back
Saw Facebook message “come back and try”. It has improved but after paying and hitting tee shot off first starter announces all bunkers out of play! “To allow grass to grow” Parts of green still poor but used to follow pin position 2. But pin positions not available in buggy and starters does not have them!. Fairways OK, restaurant not open, so too early to invite people back to try
Recovering nicely
Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways are recovering nicely but still patchy on some holes. Compliments to ownership and staff for the hard work bring this course back into good shape. Dry weather has been hard on all courses in this area at this point in time
Coming back
I’ve played Metro West over the years and it’s finally getting back to the Course I remember. Greens are in better than good shape and the bunkers are nearly there. Great to see!
The best greens ever!
We played Metrowest on Monday and it was so fun we played it again on Friday. The greens were in the best shape of any course I have seen in over 25 years of playing. Overall, the course was in very good shape and the fairways were wide open, which we needed as these were our first rounds after a New Hampshire winter. And water came into play on only a couple holes, which we also appreciated.
For some reason, the driving range was closed at noon. We had tee times just after 2:00 when the rates dropped to their lowest, but were ready to head out by 1:30 and they had no problem with us going early. There is no drinking water on the course and no beverage cart during our first round. Thankfully our beverage bags were full of adult beverages, which no one paid any attention to. I would highly recommend this course if you’re looking for something that’s not too challenging.
A good day on the course
Greens were very good. Tee boxes and fairways only fair, not great. Bunkers were filled with new sand but hardly a rake to be seen so deep footprints everywhere. A little overpriced but an overall good experience.
Fantastic Greens
Greens are fantastic! Bunkers are new being revamped and will be great. Give this course some time and it will be close to what it used to be. Tee to green is average.
Much Improved!
Metro West a slowly returning to the great course it was 15 years ago! Fairways are green with grass. Rough is brown and harder to play from as it should be. Greens are in great shape. I played early in the morning (sun up) and there were lots of staff on course working. Two things that could be improved immediately for an even better experience.: 1) sand bunkers should be manicured to begin the day. 2) tee boxes should be cleaned of old tees from day before esp the or 3’s. Overall vastly improved since last played 2 years ago.
Things really improving!
Great value course. Wide open and fun with friendly staff. Lots of evidence of work being done to improve course. Greens pretty good. Signage still a problem.
No Tee Markers :(
There were no tee markers at majority of holes, there were no signs reeling you where to go , “where is the next tee” we were so confused. First timers here at this course. I mean I haven’t seen a course with worse marking situation . No racks in the sand/bunkers. Bought 2 drinks $35+ .. kidding me . No Club cleaners, ball cleaners, I wouldn’t pay more that $30 for this course with cart. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend :(
Great Value
If you’re looking for a fun course to play that doesn’t break the bank this is it. This was our third time playing it and it’s a ton of fun. Friendly but the elevated greens can kick you in the pants. Love #18!
My one negative would be the green speed is slow - but at-least they are true. New sprinkler system would do this course wonders.
Too early to be inviting players back
Course has improved. Staff welcoming and helpful. But poor buggy from Southern Plantation had faults (stop, start, slow). Told pin position 2 but had no chart available, starter said “they are not in the new buddies!”. Starter welcoming but after we hit our first tee shots told us all bunkers were out of play - to protect grass surround. Obviously not new so could have been told when booking or checking in not after paid and hit first tee shot. Fairways recovering but need attention. Greens has some very poor spots which we kept in play due to following pin 2 zone placement. Use good parts of the green while rest recovers.
Pretty dry right now. Very friendly staff
My wife (beginner) and myself (mid-handicapper) had a good time. Every person we met on staff was very nice and it was easy to engage in conversation. We aren't the fastest golfers and let a few groups play through and were still done in about 4.5 hours. We figured our actual golf time was a little over 4 hours in a Wednesday afternoon.
I saw notes in previous reviews that earlier in the year the bunkers were not playable. As of now you can play out of the sand but not the sod around the bunkers (treated as ground under repair). That didn't really affect our enjoyment,
We liked that layout and had a good time. We aren't regular visitors to Orlando, Florida and don't know about wet/dry conditions here but the course was very dry. The new sod around the bunkers could use more water to set faster and get things back to normal.
Sign up for the course's newsletter to get discount codes, The promotion we used was 20% off (Sunday - Thursday) which made it a good deal and commensurate with the current course conditions.
This course needs improvement
All sand traps were under repair. There is very little signage on the course - not even to identify the holes.
There was only pre-made grilled dis, burgers at the turn - the restaurant was not open.
