Santa Anita Golf Course

Really good coverage mostly, decent grass to hit off of. Yes there are some bare spots of course but overall most of the course has really good grass coverage now and is fun to play again.

The greens are a bit damaged, bumpy with weird patches, but the place is obviously putting the work in to roll them out to flatten and smooth as much as possible so they are quicker than most and are good enough to make putts.

Overall it’s in much better shape than most Munis, especially when compared to LA City.

However, I just don’t understand how they can charge so much for crappy range balls. It’s just not right.

Because there was a tournament, there was no cart available at the time of checking in. understandable.

However, the pace of play was horrible. It took about 6 hours to finish 18 holes on that day after dark.... 6 hours...

I am never going back there again.

Slow play they definitely over booked this course. There was a wait on every hole. Save your money play somewhere else.

Has the potential to be a decent municipal course but deserves to be treated better for both conditions & pace.

I got lucky as I found a tee time on GolfNow that included the cart at the Courses walking price rate. The course was in good condition despite the recent rainfall we’ve experienced. The greens were a little slow with light brown patches but I think that’s always been the case at this course. I’ve played here before but it had been a while since I last played here and I was reminded why I’ve always liked this course and that I should play it more often.

due to a tournament our tee time was delayed by 2 hours. and they were still trying to charge us full price when we had no time to finish the round. never again will I play here.

Don't ever go here. there was a tournament and they used that an excuse to push my tee time from 11:47 to 1:15. when I finally got on, the guys behind me said their tee time was 12:30. they let other people play in front of us and bumped us back. And they were trying to charge me full price for twilight time... and the icing on the cake was, the course was so backed up, we barely finished the front 9 but had to wait on almost every single hole. DO NOT PLAY HERE EVER!!!

I gave this course a 4 star rating for two reasons:

I can see the benefit of letting a group of 5 having the first tee time. I was in the second group in a group of 3. The pace was so slow. The group in front of us finally let us play through after the Sixth hole. It was a very fast round for us after that.

The next reason, course fairway condition is not the best. A lot of muddy and bare patches.

Other than that, a very nice course and will continue to play there and tell others to also play.

This course allows 5 somes, due to this pace of play was terrible, started a 1220 tee time at 1240, and didn't get to finish 18 holes before dark (5pm).
