Santa Anita Golf Course

Course was wide open. Greens in tip-top shape. it was HOT, but the course layout is still an entertaining experience.

Today the pace of play was slow but still finished in 4 hours and 40 minutes. The ground are in decent shape, no patches of dirt spots in the fairways. You may find some dirt off the fairway. If you are not afraid of bunker shots, you won't mind them. Some bunkers have a slight film of sand sitting on top of hard dirt, just enough to get a blade under the ball. The sand is very hard and course, more like ground up gravel.

Teed off at 8:23, thought pace would be better but it wasn’t, slow pace

Sunday early afternoon, multiple golfers driving onto the tee boxes, and/or directly next to the greens, not fixing divots or ball marks.. Greens are in good shape, although many had multiple unfixed ball marks. Dirt hard bunkers. Some fairways were nicer than others. It appears they allow fivesomes, at least they did on Sunday.

$62 w/ a cart, 5 hours on the nose.

It’s a nice challenging layout, if only it was in better shape. The pro shop staff are super friendly and helpful, ditto for the restaurant staff.

I’ve never played Santa Anita before and found a tee time for a Saturday afternoon as a single. The threesome I was supposed to be paired with never showed for the tee time. Several Foursomes we’re scheduled so I couldn’t get on. The staff at the pro shop went out of their way to try to get me on but it just wasn’t working out. They even asked several groups of they minded adding a fifth. They all said

“ no thank you “… which was disappointing but understandable-perfectly ok. Eventually, they sent me out as a single. I literally had the first five holes to myself. Completely unheard of. The starter even came out at hole 5 and asked how I was doing?

( he was marshaling I think ). I played the front nine all by myself. At Santa Anita. In a Saturday afternoon. At hole 10 I was joined by another single and we breezed thru the back 9. This review is specifically to thank all of the staff for going above and beyond to take care of things that weren’t even their fault.

High golf this course about five years ago. It’s the same now as it was then. Good condition and a very excellent staff at the club. Looking forward to go off in there again.

Their attitude was terrible

It had been some time since playing this course and unfortunately the conditions were far from par. The greens were in decent condition but Can tell they get very minimal treatment. Huge divots all over and doesn’t look like they do anything to fix it. Very Ft conditions in fairways. Lots of dirt patches a lot of area without any grass at all.

This was my first time playing here, definitely a fun course , the hills are gnarly. But pretty wide open for drives and irons. Pitching and chipping off the hills was challenging. Definitely a fun time, recommended
