Santa Anita Golf Course

Really nice course, nice layout and greatest conditions. First time playing. We’ll be back !!

We had booked a tee time on golf now for $37 with a cart included on Wednesday, June 8th at 2:43 pm for 3 players. When our group checked in, the gentlemen at the front desk did not honor the online price, and told is that the reservation had to have “cart included” with the mentioned price. He also told us that all online rates are walking only. The 3rd person in our group was forced to pay $52. I understand that there are mistakes/ glitches on the golfnow app from time to time, but that is not the customers fault.

Had a fair round but a few of the greens where in terrible condition with dirt exposed all around the cup. At the very least the cups should have been put in the small area the greens where in okay condition and plenty of dirt on certain fairways. Course is not particularly difficult but there is plenty of bends and trees. Easy to find yourself in punch out shots or totally blocked from the green. Overall no better then 3 stars. Hit some balls on the driving range, mats are very old and you need to hit it into one corner to get any long range distance, I want to say most of the driving range is about 170 yards long.

The course is great with beautiful views and a fair challenge. Absolutely horrible pace of play with zero concern for other players to not have a 5-6 hour round. Definitely play during the week, otherwise, for the money, skip this one.

Plus side: nice layout, interesting and challenging track. Flat tee boxes, rarity on public courses. Gorgeous setting. Greens in good shape, fairways too.

Minus side: sub-par driving range, bunkers are unplayable. Hard-pan. I took free drops after first two debacles. Too bad, the bunker locations are otherwise great.

My 1st time at Santa Anita. Pleasantly surprised! The course played well and had a great time with my foursome (players of varying skill).

Course is in good shape. The layout is deceivingly tough. Most greens are perched up on a hill. Approach shots are tough if you’re aim is off. The greens looked like they were in good condition but we’re incredibly slow. Overall great value. Would play again as always.

I know pace is slow on weekends which is why I usually play on Fridays. Knew I had some free time on Sunday so I booked at 11. Pace was slow starting just from the second hole and got worse and worse. It was so bad I left after 9 holes. Not a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon golfing.

Players are no allowed to take the Carts out to the Parking Lot. NO BAG DROP. Players have to carry their Clubs from the Parking Lot which is full and a long distance from the Starter Location.

Greens actually had a decent amount of speed, and mostly rolled like normal greens, even though they looked weird like they always do. For the past few years they had been horrible, sticky and slow, so this was a pleasant surprise today. Lets hope they can keep this going. Looks like the place is putting in a little more effort into making the place look and play better.

The golf shop has been cleaned up, the restaurant is also being updated. Place is looking much better.

POP was good today, even though I heard them sending out 5somes. So, if you’re planning on playing here, expect some slow days again.

Can’t speak for the bunkers but they all mostly looked playable, raked and maintained.

The course overall has good coverage, but the tee boxes definitely need more work. So many of them are bare and not level.

But I forgive them today for decent greens.
