Busy Holiday Weekend
Great range, putting, and chipping area.
We showed up for our 2:39 tee time and there were still 3 groups making the turn from the orange/black routing apparently on a 3 hour pace for the front nine. Luckily we went of the white course instead 20 mins later so bullet dodged. White course was in good shape. On the turn to the orange 9, somehow a group jumped in front of us, I'm guessing another tee time mix up, seems to be a theme for this course with 27 holes which was unfortunate. Orange course was in tough shape
Better Days
Been playing Keith Hills for 30 years. Greens were in the poorest shape I have ever seen them. Pace of play was horrible 5+ hour round.
Knowing this is not the norm will play again. Hopefully greens will be corrected.
Hidden Gem
Not sure if it’s even a hidden gem. Love me some Keith Hills though. Early morning tee times are quick and quiet. Best time to play. Reasonable pricing and great course layout. Some fun holes. Challenging enough but beginner friendly. Love posting here
Over rated for the money
When you are the only game in town and you have a PGA program there, I would expect more quality in the grass maintenance. For a course that expects $70 make sure your greens are perfect. I played orange to black and was
Just disappointed in how the course looked in the first week of May.
Asked to Leave Before Finished
Pro asked me to leave course so he could go home and see visiting family for Easter. I was surprised and disappointed. I was well within a 4 hr round but agreed to pickup and leave after 15 holes. Pro offered rain check but I was too surprised to accept and just packed up and left.
5.5 hr round with 9am tee time
I was hoping that with a 9am tee time the play would be closer to 4-4-1/2 hours. We tee’d off 15 minutes after our T-time, every hole was backed up. There seemed to be a scramble in front of us and there was no sign of a ranger anywhere. The front took 2:45 and the back was even slower. (4 groups waiting to tee off in front of us when we made the turn) The course conditions were OK at best and the greens had not grass. Hopefully a week of warmer weather will get the grass coming in.
First impressions are not always accurate
This was my second time playing Keith Hills. The first time was very frustrating because our tee time was bumped back 1 hour due to a golf tournament and so we didn't have enough time to finish before it got dark.
This past Saturday we had an 8:12 tee time and we had a great 4 hour pace for 18 holes. The weather was cold and after several days of rain so cart path only is always a bummer but it wasn't too bad.
However, after we finished the number of people that showed up to play in the afternoon was insane, It felt very crowded and I was thankful for our early tee time and it showed but that you must play early at this place or the pace of play will be bad but that was just my impression. Could be better
Had heard about this course over the years. So decided to play it on the way home from MB. Rain delayed our start. Once we went out to start play, we had to go back to pro shop to ask for towels to wipe down seats etc. They had only one towel to offer... The lady pro or manager was indifferent about the towels. The adventure started on the White nine, the signage is poor as you have a hike to get out to White #1, the last sign is facing a perpendicular cart path you are on saying which way to White #1. The White nine needs renovation to make it more eye appealing. The other two nines have some character. The GPS was ok, but you need glasses to read the messages on each hole. They didn't tell us that the 2nd nine would be cart path only. They didn't get that much rain... The local kids with their own carts didn't have to pay attention to the cart path only rules. The course has potential and most of the people were friendly, but management needs to be more on the ball. The food was very good however the lady behind the counter was lazy and just watched her soap operas on her phone instead of coming out and cleaning up the tables. This is a college course owned by the college but needs some guidance.
