Great layout, new greens are only going to get better
Great layout, new greens are only going to keep getting better. Friendly staff and a decent warmup area make it a must play
Course in great shape!
We played the Orange and White course. The Black 9 opens 8/28/2013...looking forward to playing it....new greens and cart path!
Wet, but great!
Had a great time. No two holes were the same. We played the white and orange course. Highly recommend the orange. It had some scenic, challenging holes and required every club in the bag. It rained the night before, there were a few puddles as expected, but drained surprisingly nice.
Hot Deal, Hot Day and a Cool time
I have always loved this course because I know it will be well maintained. It did not disappoint me! I was met with a friendly welcome as I walked in. I played the Orange and Black nines. The Orange is tree lined and tight with fast greens. The Black is open and has slower greens. It took a few holes to get use to the Black greens after playing the Orange. They both putted true. The range is huge and has everything you need to get ready to play a round of golf. I had a great time and you will too!
Awesome Course
This is a extremely fun course. Lots of short holes but they make you play them true. Maintained extremely well. My partner actually shot a hole in one on Orange #7!
Great course!
This course is more than worth the money. It is in great shape and you can score on it. We will be back back again soon.
Greens were superb shape
Great set up (white/orange), course in great shape!
I love this course - especially the greens.
I enjoy this course - this round was interrupted by a torrential rain after 3 holes.. . we were able to then finish the first 9 (white course). The rain then decided to come back and washed out the round; however, the course did give us rain checks for the final 9. I think this course is a great value around 30 for 18 w cart. We got this round at 22/person plus booking fee so it was a no brainer - just wish the rain would have waited a day or so!!
Great layout with unique features on every hole.
The course was in very good condition despite heavy rains. Very entertaining layout and design on the Orange and White courses. We will definitely make this a regular stop.
Great value
Keith Hills is a great course to play. There are 3 different 9-hole courses to choose from, although one is closed for renovations now. Each course is very well maintained with moderately fast mini verde bermuda greens. It is challenging from the long tees and moderately difficult from the middle tees. Great practice area with putting green, range, sand bunker and chipping green. Also, download the keith hills app for a great gps/scorecard function
note ... black course is closed for renovation .. great course!
we played orange / white. golf now bills it as orange / black
(white is a dan maples course .. part of second 18. the green course is permanently closed. black open in fall.)
delightful day in buies creek!!!! great course. first time we have played and very pleasant surprise. in spite of the drive, we will be back. can't wait to play the black (supposedly the most challenging.)
course was in great shape and a challenging day of golf ... typical ellis maples golf on orange.)
don't let the white fool you. first three holds are very tough. I should have given them more respect. would play white again too. more of an open midwestern feel.
great day/value.
Nice layout and overall, a good course
Thought the course was in great shape, although having aerated a little over 1 week ago, the greens were rolling slow. Should be in great shape in 1-2 more weeks and into the fall, as the greens were in great shape, but just slow. Overall, the course was nice and I'll definitely return again this season.
Great Layout
This is an old favorite course that we had not played in a couple of years. It was just as great as we remembered, and one of our players was there for the first time. He was thrilled with it.
Course in excellent Shape
Very well maintained and friendly staff. Would recommend.
The newer Orange course is a very nice layout. Black greens need some work.
Enjoyed playing the newer Orange course, greens were in good condition overall. The Black course, our back-nine has spotty greens that need some attention. Overall for the value, it was a good course. Friendly to women, moderately challenging for men. Fairways on Orange were good, Black fairways had some very thin spots.
An Ellis Maples Design In Golf Annals
If, like me, you love golf history and the links as they used to be played by the greats of the game, then you will enjoy looping at Keith Hills. As with many of the 'old' courses designed by Ellis Maples it is never a far distance from green to teeing ground of the next hole. I have played here since about 1986 when I move to NC from CA. The atmosphere around the club is all about golf, as it should be.
There are three courses of nine hols each, the Orange, the Black and the White. I have only played the Orange and Black, and those 18 holes are the original design by Maples; although he had the course laid out to be played from Black to Orange. If you have an opportunity to go that route be prepared for a devilish finishing hole, a par four dog leg right with water and bunkers to be dealt with on the second shot. Thus the reason most people play the Orange course first as that hole is better handled as no. 9 than no. 18.
The Black course at this time has had a new watering system installed so many of the trenches are still barren and play as GUR. Other than that, all is as it has always been, although the winter weather of March 2013 has the grounds about a month out of balance with good growing conditions but the greens are great, true and deceivingly quick.
Love golf? Then make that trip to Buies Creek and play where the Fighting Camels play. You'll be glad you did.
3 nines with alot of variety, Very Firm Greens
I still have not played the black course (white, orange and black). Course is in good condition, no complaints other than the greens are very hard and it is difficult to stop the ball on the green on the orange course.
super value
Looked like irrigation lines were just put in on the fairways, greens were excellent. Will play again asap.
Great course
A great combination of elevation, sand and natural hazards with lots of opportunities to make grat shots or err, as the case may be.
However, the greens are super challenging and somewhat inconsistent between the fron and rear nine.
