Need to do something about the pace of play!
This is a decent public course with good amenities, practice range, putting green and water coolers. Price seems reasonable for the Charlotte area. Tee boxes, fairways, rough and bunkers are what you would expect from a municipal course. Green were poor and bouncy and had not recovered for some reason from the aerating which was done 6 weeks ago. Most of that is acceptable, but what is not acceptable is a 5.5 hour round starting at 8:15 AM. The starter who was really nice and friendly even made a comment about expecting a minimum 5 hour round. I understand a lot of people do not like being pushed, but you can easily play double-bogey golf in 4 - 4.5 hours.
Charles T Myers
I have played C T Myers for over 30 years and I have seen this course trans form into one of the best if not the Nest public courses in Charlotte! I remember the course at one time was covered with a lot of under growth throughout the course. the fairways are very well kept and the greens are in very good shape! Now it is crowded all the time! Pace can be slow because non players that think they can play take too much time! Only Bryan Patk in Greensboro is better!
Slow pace
We really enjoy this course. Open format is forgiving with plenty of challenging holes. Place of play was a little slow. We were set to tee off at our scheduled time and then got held up as there was another group that got inserted ahead of us. Groups ahead of us were waiting for the group ahead of them to get off the green on par fours. Greens were recently aerated but there was a lot of rain recently. Fortunately there was only one hole that was cart path only.
Nice track good value
Beautiful par 3’s nice layout. It’s a muni so
Conditions not great but for the price a truly enjoyable round of golf
This course was not in very good shape
This course was in pour shape. The starter said that the greens were aerated 4-weeks ago and should be in better shape than they were. He apologized. They should post that on their website or something. They should lower their golf fees when something like that is happening. Not sure I will go back to this course.
FUN DAY ON THE COURSE
Always love playing Charles T. The common areas could use a lot of tlc but love the layout and ease of getting in & out of the facility. Staff and clubhouse are perfect. For the price, best value in Charlotte!
Aerated greens still??
Nowhere on the website does it say the greens are still aerated as every other course is way past this point in the year. The course is still charging full green fees but the green are unputtable. The starter even tells you 2 putts max a hole due to the condition of the greens. Greens should not be in this condition at this point in the year. It's unacceptable to charge full price for a round when you can only really play half a round of golf. Chipping on to the green is like chipping onto shag carpet and then putting is worthless. You might as well go putt in the bunker as the ball rolls the same.
Fun course greens were aerated
This was my first time playing this course. The layout is wide open and most holes forgiving. The staff was really nice. The course needs a little tender loving care but being a municipal course it’s to be expected (played Harry L Jones for years!). The only disappointment was the aerated greens. It was like playing on a plinko board. I felt the prices should have been a little lower as you couldn’t putt at all. I will go back.
Wide fairways, bouncy greens
Course is in okay shape. The greens are not in the best shape yet and are under some maintenance making it a tough place to make putts. Aside from that the course was fine, wide open fairways and some cool par 3’s. Good course for game improvement players.
Aeration
They allegedly aerated the greens 3 weeks prior, but looked like they did so the day before since they didn’t top dress with sand. Personally never seen that before, but nonetheless, really should be offering a pretty significant discount when they green conditions are that poor. Trying to save some money that equates to poor conditions and then squeeze every dollar you can out of your customer at the same time is wild.
Raincheck
Only got in the first 9 due to a severe rainstorm. Got a paper for a raincheck but they wouldn’t issue a refund for the second 9. I paid for the group and now I’m out over $100 as I only got my group to pay me half.
Playing in the 70’s
Enjoy playing in the 70’s 70 degrees nice and sunny 😎
I played yesterday at Charles t myers
I played a Charles t myers on 4/26/25 and they were doing some aerated the greens wasn’t bad but I know a lot of people might not play there because it’s like that but it wasn’t bad tho
Needs Better Management
You never know how poor the course will be until you show up to play.
The previous management company - Ratcliffe - was MUCH better than the current people.
The course was in MUCH better condition, the PERKS program was much better.
And the fees were lower.
Mecklenburg County - in it's bureaucratic wisdom - discarded an excellent entertainment value for a few more bucks in their pocket. 99% of the members would have gladly paid a little more if money was the issue.
But you know government people are always smarter than the end user and now they have given us a much less valuable experience.
Yes, people will still play - it is a convenient location, but why fix something that was not broke - especially if the fix made the experience worse.
