About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Where is the course marshall?
I’ve played this course a handful of times. I really enjoy the layout from the blacks as a long hitter, it’s fun, challenging, unforgiving and should be a 5 star value as the best value in RTP. However, as a single playing in the evening I can normally play this course in 2.5hrs. Today pace on the front 9 was literally the worst I’ve experienced in my 24 years of playing. It was backed up from when I started at 4:45, hit, wait, hit, wait, putt, crawl up to the next tee box where the next group was always waiting, wait, hit. I played through 4 groups in 7 holes (thanks!) with no open course in front of me. Talk about frustrating. Finished 8, drove up to 9 and there were three foursomes standing around drinking beer on the tee box, with another foursome hacking away in the fairway in front of them. I skipped the hole, went to 10 (the back 9 was completely empty and smooth sailing). This pace was totally unacceptable, it took over 2 hours for 9 as a SINGLE PLAYING THROUGH. There is no possible way a foursome would make 2:15 through the turn, the 4:30 suggest pace. I love playing this course, but It needs a grouchy old guy driving around keeping things moving. Likely won’t be back for a while.

Always a great test
The Neuse always keeps you on your toes. You need every shot in your bag to score here. Greens are in the best shape I’ve seen them since 1996. Course is well maintained. Toughest track in the area. Love this place!

One of the best courses around
Played at The Neuse for the first time and it was just amazing. Looked at tee times the night before playing and saw a Hot Deal for just $14!!
The front 9 played a lot easier to me but the magic is on the back 9. Every hole seems scenic and offers different challenges. They force you to use multiple clubs off the tee. It’s not a super long course but it has a lot of doglegs where you can’t just blast it down there.
Only complaint I had was the greens were very sandy and a bit slow which I know is common for this time of year but I think they’ll come in very nicely soon.
Overall, The Neuse is an absolute must play. Great deal on price, great layout, great course.

The Neuse is a “must play” favourite
Let me start by saying “The Neuse is one of my favourite courses to play”
However, today we were unlucky with recently aerated, sandy greens and exceptionally slow play. The 4 ball behind us even gave up by 14th hole. This is not usual for this property, which is typically immaculate and I have never had a problem with slow play. It would have been good to be warned about the greens through GN! Or before we paid and started.
I am going to chalk this visit up as unfortunate, and this review should not put anyone off. I will be visiting again soon but will phone first to check conditions.

Slow
Haven’t played the Neuse in over a year But always enjoy playing here. Course was in great shape. Some greens were a good bit faster then others but all in good shape. Pace of play was absolutely terrible. Went up to 1st tee box 7-8 min prior to tee time and there were 3 groups stacked in front of us waiting to tee off. Teed off 25 min After our booked tee time. Took 5:30 to finish round due to over booking. The group of 2 behind us kept hitting into us (that could happen at any course). Just wish a ranger would have come around a time or 2 to speed it up.

Well kept fairways but still sharing cart
The day I played the fairways were immaculate. The course is not putting players in individual carts like the rest in the area. If I had known this up front I would have played elsewhere. I have been in recent contact with COVID and it's difficult to wear a mask while golfing and it slows the pace of play considerably.

A first class golf course.
Interesting layout. Plenty of room if you hit a bit of a pull or a small block. Won’t need driver off every par 4 or 5. Greens weren’t super fast but absolutely fine.

Greens
Love the layout but the greens are in bad shape and the pace of play was very slow for a Monday. There are several other courses in the area that have much better greens.

6 Groups waiting on 1st Tee!
A nice course ruined by poor management. No starter. $50 money grab by over booking. 6 minutes in between tee times even during Coronavirus epidemic with no starter resulted in an excruciatingly slow round. I was very disappointed. I feel like I paid $50 to constantly be annoyed.

Being a member for four years a the Neuse, there have been alot of changes. The course is for all players.
It challenges you to craft shots. Makes you a better player at other courses.

Nice Course
Had a fun round , played as a single behind a threesome. Instead Trying to play thru. I took the time to drive up and evaluate the greens since I never played there. That helped me shot my best round ever. Course was clean and nice. Staff was friendly

The Neuse is the best bang for your buck golf course in the area. Played after it had rained for 3 straight days, and it was wet but still very playable!
