The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center

Was excited to play The Ridge; had not played there in a while. Unfortunately, they apparently have had an ONGOING and KNOWN problem with a large number of their carts not being available due to maintenance issues, nothing to do with Covid, that had us wait just under an hour past our tee time of 1:10pm. This should have been disclosed; them taking early afternoon tee times knowing players would have to wait for 45+ minutes past their tee times without a notice posted to the player prior to booking is unacceptable. We booked a time that should have been able to easily finish; that did not happen.

The course itself was in very good condition. If you can golf earlier in the day (When I assume they would have enough carts) or you don’t mind waiting and not finishing your round then the course is worth it. The clubhouse staff seemed indifferent to the frustration the 30+ players all waiting well past their scheduled times. At the very least a bucket of balls would have been a good way to ‘apologize’ for the significant delays.

Coarse is in amazing shape. Greens are super fast!!!

The Ridge was a one-time LPGA course event holder - the Long's Challenge, and the layout presents a challenge for anyone. The greens are all multi-tier and are often rolling extremely fast. The slope rating from the blues is 137.

The course is challenging. Difficult greens. The course plays very nice. Not so sure how well it drains with allot of rain as the fairways was wet. Fairways is short grass but you can take a nice divot through the turf. The tee boxes and greens was in good shape.

I would play there again if I can get a good deal on green fees.

Ball machine out of balls on one side. Needed to go to pro shop to get refunded. Staff was nice and gave me extra tokens to compensate. Waited 20 minutes pass tee time for cart. Which didn’t matter due to the slow fivesome ahead of us. Pace was so slow my partner circled back to do front 9 again and I stopped play. Typically this a good challenging course but today was frustrating.

The Par 4’s on the front nine are are easier than the Par 4’s on the back. Really enjoyed the course and will play again. I’m not a great player so when pace of play is too slow for me that says something.

This is one of the best course in Norcal. Only glitch today was the front 9 greens were in very poor shape. Appeared to have been punched the same day. Starter should have mentioned

first time here. course was in great shape. fairways and greens in excellent condition.( its been warm in sac this month, the fall thinning of the grass maybe has been delayed.) talk about fast greens ! holy smoke. if you don't have an uphill put don't worry, your next put will be uphill. i'm not a great player and the so this place looked pretty intimidating on line however I will say the fairways are manageable. an errant shot isnt automatically lost. greens are big but multii-teared and raised, need some loft to hold some of the greens. lots of slope. some very picture-esque holes. it was a bit slow - there was a slow foursome a few groups ahead of us. took a little less the 4.5 hrs for the round. Dont beleive we ever saw a marshall come to think of it. The clubhouse is very nice as is the outdoor dining area, overlooking some of the course. The carts have some sort of GPS tracker where they will die if you go somewhere your not supposed to be. Almost had to get out and push. found I could drive in reverse to get back on the cart path. slightly hilly course. some fun holes too. #4 , 9 and 18 come to mind.

Been lucky enough to book a 2pm tee time here on a Saturday. I thought that would be plenty of time to finish before it gets super dark. Started on time and joined a 3-some. Following a foursome who were a little slow. We gave them some breathing room and next thing you know a group decides to jump on hole 4 from the other fairway. Finished hole 9 just at about 4:40. That group left after hole 9 and started to be a little quicker. Caught up to the group in front on hole 13 because a group of kids jumped in front of them. Of course, darkness fell right on 16 and couldn’t even see the ball on the 17th tee box. This course is still my favorite other than those delays on the weekends. Just left a bad taste after that round.
