Challenging but fun!
The scorecard, bunkers, and hills can look intimidating but it's a lot of fun! Only played it twice before, it was my husband's first time. He loved it, especially after putting a couple pars on the card. The staff was very friendly! We were expecting to get paired with another group since it was just the two of us and a Sunday, but nope, went alone! A plus for us. We will be back!
Excellent golf course
This is an excellent golf course and a very good value. Challenging layout, the course appears short if you look at the scorecard, but there is plenty of length due to the hills. The course is in very good condition, given the drought in California. Very nice clubhouse. Staff was quite friendly. Mats only on the driving range was the only disappointment.
Joe - thank you for the excellent review! The course can be challenging, we agree and yes! The course is in great condition given the drought conditions! We appreciate you noticing! We'll pass along the concern with the mats, we appreciate the feedback!
Grreat time at the ridge!
...you MUST play this course. Gold tees very challenging as too were the greens. Nice track in the foothills!!
Thank you so much Kenji for the excellent review!! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed the course and we look forward to having you back soon!
Amazing course and service
This was one of the most memorable golf experiences ever. I get up to the Roseville area once every few months and this was the best course for the money I have ever played. The gentleman at the pro shop was the BEST!!! Super friendly and comped me a small range token because I opted to walk. Working in the service industry this goes a long way with me. Anyway, I will be back here every single time. I will be a true Customer For Life with The Ridge.
Thank you so much for the excellent review! We're glad you had such a great time and you enjoyed the the staff! We are so happy to hear that you will be a customer for life! We look forward to having you back (forever), make sure you bring your friends!
The Ridge
The course itself is good shape, with this bad drought I was surprised.
The pace of play was not great, no marshall's to get group's going. The front nine played almost 3 hours. Guys playing multiple tee balls instead of play the lateral hazard line.
I finally quit on the 13th hole with three groups waiting for the tee.
Maybe getting a marshall to speed up play would be something to look at. The course is to nice to let this type of play happen. I might go back but it will be early next time
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great round with us at The Ridge. We don't have any physical marshal's out on the course because our carts are equipped with GPS and it allows us to manage and track the carts on the course. When a group falls behind we notify them by sending a message on the GPS to pick up the pace and catch up with the group in front of them. Either way, we apologize for the slow play. Thank you for letting us know, we will make sure to pass these concerns along to the appropriate people. Thank you for your review!
Value
Summer special rate, great value for this course. Keep the ball in play. do not chase into Sticky weeds off fairways as you will be pulling burrs off your clothes for hours.
Yikes - sorry to hear about the burrs! We're glad you took advantage of our summer specials and hope you come back in the near future! Thanks for the great review!
Great course
The course is in great shape, despite the water shortage. Greens rolled true and were not too hard. Great rate on Golfnow.com, too!
Lant - thank you so much for giving us an outstanding review! We think the course is in great shape too and we're happy you noticed. We hope to see you back sooner than later!
Foothills Gem
The Ridge was a treat!
Lovely course nestled in Auburn with great conditions and challenging golf holes.
Given the drought and other courses conditions, this course is well worth the drive.
Wow SandyDad, thank you for taking the time to give us a stellar review! We love to hear that we are worth the drive. Feel free to encourage your friends to make the drive! Hope to see you soon!
Always chalenging golf course
This is a course that you have to keep the ball in play in order to score, you miss a fairway your toast in spots.
Thanks for taking the time to review the course! Our course is definitely challenging but we're happy to know you were up for it! Come back and see us soon!
Great course
I had played Darkhorse, in the area, and was told also to try this course. I am from Ky, and was here for the Senior Open. Both courses are outstanding, but different.
Ridge is a great layout, and was in extremely good condition, considering the drought in the area.
Jim - we're so glad to hear that you gave us a a try and enjoyed the course so much! We love to hear that the course conditions are great, especially during this drought! We hope on your next trip from Kentucky, you visit with us again! Thank you for the outstanding review!
Great course but where's the staff???
As a frequent golfer (80+ rounds a year) I was excited to come play the ridge again. Course is tough but always in good condition. Unfortunately it's hard to enjoy a round this slooooow. T time was 8:25 got to t off around 8:45 since they were already drastically behind. Slow from start but at 7 hole showed up to a group of 8 . They eventually split up to two 4's but the damage was done. Total round took about 5:45. Things happen....no big deal and on a Saturday it can be expected. However my biggest concern is the staff. In close to 6 hours did not see 1 Marshall. Even the cheap courses like bing and Bartley manage pace of play better. When checking in the desk man did not let us know t off was late and had the personality of a rock(none). I believe they should make the greens keeper manage the staff because course conditions were great but staff was not. At $50 a piece I would expect much more. Might as well pay $20 more and make the drive to Yocha, or better yet if in auburn head to dark horse or auburn valley for comparable rates you'll always least get a smile from the staff.
We apologize about your unpleasant experience with our staff member and with the pace of play on Saturday the 27th.
We had a group of 4 players show up with out a tee time and we managed to put them out on the course in the morning but unfortunately, put us behind by 10 minutes. Then the group of 8 that you spoke of was running late to the tee which also caused us to be behind so our apologies again for the 20 minute delay. In regards to why we do not have a marshal, our golf carts are equipped with GPS and it allows us to manage and track the carts on the course. When a group falls behind we notify them by sending a message on the gps to pick up the pace and catch up with the group in front of them but again still no excuse for a 5:45 round. Unfortunately, our course is fairly difficult as well and many players do have a tough time with managing the pace of play. We strive to hit a pace of play at just under 5 hours for our course.
We hope that you come back soon and have a much more positive experience. Thank you again for your comments and input as this helps us to improve on our service.
Slope 130
Plays a tough 130 slope. Not too long, Good mixture of long, short, tight, sloping holes. Par five are short but challenging. Lot of local knowledge needed.
Rodlee, thanks for taking the time to review our course! We are pleased to know you enjoy the different holes we offer. Come back soon and bring your friends!
An Excellent Golf Experience
Played on a Sunday, and finished in four hours, which was amazing. Challenging course for sure, something I always seek in selecting a golf course. Great conditions for both fairways and greens. Facilities are first class, fod in the restaurant is amazing, and the staff is the best. Great value for the money and alway worth the drive from Lincoln, CA.
DWagner - thank you so much for the excellent review! We are incredibly happy to hear that you were pleased with not only our course conditions but also our restaurant and staff! Feel free to make the drive from Lincoln more often, we can't wait to have you back!
Very , very nice!
The course is a relatively short distance from a major freeway, and in a hilly region of the Greater Sacramento area, about 90 minutes from Lake Tahoe. While it's conditions are typical of drought-sensitive California, it's still interested really good shape. The fairways are wide, but deceptive; with very scenic, rocky dry creek, manmade lakes, and heavy -brush out of bounds areas, better be accurate or else. The greens right now are a pot slower than I suspected for the temperature. Careful or you'll be frustrated at how many putts you'll leave short. The clubhouse is beautiful. I'd be surprised if this joint doesn't make most its revenue off weddings and special events. The staff were pretty polite and friendly. pace of play was right at 4.5 hours. That's saying something on a holiday weekend, with no marshal anywhere to be found. I will absolutely be back.
Kevin - thank you for the stellar review! We appreciate your feedback on the speed of the greens, as we are always striving to improve our golf course. We look forward to your next round with us!
check out the bronze statues
Look at the building diagonally to your right as you are leaving. That is where they make the statues.
Thanks for the 5-star review and for noticing our unique statues around the course! Look for some cool pictures on our Facebook in the future!
Golf day at the Ridge
Perfect day. Started on time. Had some great shots as well as some not so good shots. Overall it was a great day for my brother-in-law and myself.
We're always happy to hear when someone has a great time at our golf course! We look forward to having you and your brother-in-law back out here!
Need to have a marshal
Very disappointed the course did not have a marshal. They had some type of 2 man scramble before our group and allowed the last group to have 6 players. Golf Now should have had an alert to this. One o'clock tee time and didn't finish till 6:45 pm. Would have played somewhere else if I had known. If they had a marshal, they might have also known there was a broken water line near the 15th green. With the drought, this is totally unacceptable. Go play somewhere where they care a little more. On the plus side, it is a nice course and the cart girl was very nice.
We're so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your round of golf with us at The Ridge. We were extremely busy that afternoon and we were unaware of the group of 6 on the course. Please let us know if you see anything like that again and we would be more than happy to address that issue.
We don’t have marshals because our carts are equipped with GPS units that let us know the pace of play and where everyone is on the course. We sent multiple messages to all of the carts that were behind. Unfortunately, we were so busy there was no place for them to go, as each hole was occupied by golfers. 5 hours and 45 minutes is slow and we apologize for this. Our average play time in the afternoon on a weekend is typically 5 hours due to the high volume of players and the difficulty of the course.
As for the broken pipe, it is very unfortunate that this happened. Our superintendent was notified and the pipe was fixed within 30 minutes. We are, in fact, in a severe drought and in the last 5 years, our superintendent has completed multiple projects that have helped us reduce our water usage significantly. We have gone above and beyond the mandated 10% reduction and have reduced our water usage by 20%!
We hope you will give us another chance and come back out!
course in fair condition
Some good some bad. Aerated some of the fairways and greens seemed a little bumpy on some greens. Otherwise challenging but very fair course.
Thanks for taking the time to review our course! We hope you come back out and experience the course in a little better shape!
Great Course to play for Experienced Golfers
This is a pretty challenging course with a lot of trouble. It is one of my favorite courses in the Sacramento and Placer County area. The course is always in good shape, and the pace of play is alway solid. My last round took a little less than 4 hours.
Thanks for your review Mark! We're happy to hear we're your favorite course! We'll see back on the course soon!
Excellent course
It was a beautiful day, not too hot. Played in about 4.5 hours. Walked as a single, paid a great rate of $20.
Only other comment is that there was no starter on the first tee, and it wasn't apparent that I was the only person with a 7:50 tee time. I eventually caught up and joined a twosome ahead.
Thank you for letting us know what we can work on and we appreciate your review! We look forward to having you back!
Shannon - thank you so much for this amazing review! We're glad you and your husband had a great time and we look forward to having you back soon! Thank you again!
