About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Wait until May
The positives: price was reasonable, course very picturesque,, staff nice.
The negatives: fairways thin, worst greens I’ve ever played.
Speaking with the staff, and recognizing we played in mid-March when nighttime temps still in upper 30s/low 40’s, apparently the greens recover as the temps warm up. I certainly hope so.
Amazingly, it was still an enjoyable course to play.

Needs a lot of work
I thought Crescent Pointe green were bad, which they are. These are worse. Supposedly, there is new ownership and will be bringing in sod. Hopefully, this happens as it is a nice layout. On the plus side, the fairway and green side traps are in great shape. Tees are a mess as well. Fairway grass is sparse.

Great layout, staff helpful and friendly but
Having seen the course for years decided to try. All good but tee boxes, fairways, traps and greens….Too bad… hopefully new ownership can turn it around

Chernobyl comes to mind! more clay than grass on the greens. Should just call it a day and put up homes.

Awful round
The course was in horrible shape - the greens were unplayable. The clubhouse was open only in the pro shop- not the bar or snack area. Could not even buy a water at the turn. When we complained about the conditions to the cart guy at the end, he blew us off and said it was better shape now that it had been a few months before.

The first 9 is like playing in a swamp.

Golf course
Played last week there for the first time maintenance was out working in the course made it a little disturbing but they are starting to try to bring the course back to its normal condition heard the course was closed for a couple of years due to the previous owners did not keep it up greens were a little rough need lots of work but there was a little more grass on them from last week fairways are really hard to hit to much hard pan over all it has a lot of potential can’t wait to see it next season.

Unhappy
Played in early March so course condition was expected Fellow who met us in the parking lot was very friendly and helpful. Staff in the Pro Shop was not - actually kind of demeaning when asked questions. Had no water available to purchase on 85 degree day.

Always Hopeful, but again Disappointing
Each March I hope the course has improved, but again I was disappointed. The layout is great, the staff and facilities are good, but the course just doesn’t improve. This year started differently as I recall old gas carts, but they had upgraded to good electric carts. Unfortunately the greens are probably worse this year than last year and the fairways also need some attention. The greens have weeds on them and the surface is cracking on several greens. The tee blocks are poor as well. We paid almost $45 each, but it would need to be $20-25 before I try there again. Again, it’s too bad, because the layout is very good, with water on several holes. Fingers crossed that the owners find a greenskeeper who can restore the fairways and greens.

Fun layout, would play again
Played Rose Hill for the first time March 4, 2023. Pace of play was great. Enjoyed the layout, tight but fair, lots of tree lined fairways and water hazards. Bunkers and fairways in great shape. Some tee positions were a bit worn. Greens were good except where there were bare spots. Great value overall. I will play it again soon.

Staff or ownership changes. Be careful
Should of known when there was no water or cups or ice. The front nine is a mole factory. Greens have not be cared for. Cart guy told me the ground keeper was let go. Stay away until they get this course under control.

Could be a great course is maintained properly
Ok, I don’t want to be mean but I will be honest. The staff checking in was very nice and friendly so that was a positive. Now on to the course. This layout has the makings of a great course, unfortunately the greens might be the worst I have ever encountered , every green was in decay on some part, the tee boxes were similar. I was very disappointed on the conditions seeing that this course design and layout has GREAT potential. They told us that the course had been bought and was under a redesign so I hope that is the case. Let’s hope they get it moved in the right direction, it could be a gold mine if they get the right superintendent to fix it
