About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Unfortunately in Poor Shape
I tried to play here once a year when I travel to Hilton Head. It’s too bad that for the past 5 years now, this course is spiralling in a downward trend. The layout has always interested me on continuing to hope that next year things would improve. But it’s not. The fairways and tee blocks are mostly weeds. The greens are patchy at best, no real straight putts thanks to aeration and dirt/grass. The sand traps were hard and need more sand. It’s sad because like I said, the layout and yardage is what I like the most. If the rounds were $20-25 maybe, but not $60+.
Will no longer risk until I consistently see good reviews.
Course needs attention
Had heard that the course was in better shape than in the past so decided to give it a try. Can't imagine what shape it was in if this is considered better! Tee boxes were not distinguishable from the poor fairways in most cases, the fairways themselves should have had "under repair" markings and the greens were so bad that your ball bounced along the way to the hole. Even though the area has not had an unusual amount of rain recently, there were multiple areas in the fairways where you could see that the mowers had torn up the area because it was too wet. Extremely disappointed in the course conditions. The only plus factors were that the staff was very nice, the new club house and food we had for lunch were great! The course layout was nice but can't see a return visit in the future due to the poor course conditions.

Played here several times in the past. The condition has deteriorated TREMENDOUSLY. They should have given our $ back.

First time, probably not again this time of year
Came South for a week to break up the winter. Wanting to play some mid tier courses in th HH area.. This seemed to be one of the more reasonably priced courses. Staff friendly and helpful. Course itself was a good layout, but conditions very poor. Fairways thin and greens, had little grass, traps were in decent shape. I would imagine another couple months conditions would be improved, but for late March theses were the poorest conditions I've exprienced in HH or Myrtle Beach, having been coming the last 10 years.

Not the best
No fairway grass, greens not good, way overpriced for conditions, will not play again.

No course in this condition should ever allow people to play
I really hate to be so negative, but I’m not sure I’ve played worse greens and overall conditions on any golf course in over 38 years of playing. Walk over to the practice green before you hit the first tee. If that doesn’t spell it out for you, not much will. I’m guessing the ownership group is trying to let it go so they can profit off the development of new homes. That’s the only logical explanation. ProShop staff and dining room staff were awesome! I feel bad they’re subjected to any patrons who might take out their disappointment on them. I won’t play this course again, and sadly there’s too many courses in Bluffton that are letting them go in the toilet. Such a beautiful area.

Beautiful day for golf
Grass was getting green. Greens were fast but ball rolled true. Some spots in he fairways that were thin. Conditions should improve in the next few weeks. A bit pricey for the conditions.

Fairways were expected to be dormant this time of year but greens were poor.

We had a very enjoyable round; the course conditions were ok some bare spots but it has been very dry.

Poor value for the price
The course is in extremely poor condition. The staff are friendly and helpful. The starter sent me to the back nine as there was a scramble in front of me on the front. I played in under three hours thanks to him.
The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in very poor condition.
