Cant beat this course
Course was in very good condition. Only real complaint was the dormant color of the Bermuda fairways--dead hay looking. Greens were in very good shape for this time of year. And the pace of play was not too bad. Another complaint--minor as it is , was no starter. The carts were in great shape and speedy. And of course, not to forget the beautiful scenery--very picturesque. Especially the 17-hole par-3 as an example. Strong recommend!!!
Worth the Drive
Me and 3 buddies took a trip from Canada to SC for some much needed golf and warm weather. On of the guys had played this course years ago and could not stop talking about this diamond in the rough state park that played like courses with a much higher price tag.
He under sold this course. we stayed in the cabins (inside the park) and it was less than 3 min drive. Once we were on property it felt like a small private club. the conditions (bunkers excluded) were amazing. The layout made you feel like you were at a course like Pinehurst or Agusta (im guessing). The back nine is set in a way that no two holes are beside each other, You feel like you have the course to yourself (amazing).
The clubhouse is very nice with a well stocked pro shop and restaurant. The steamed hot dogs with a fixins station hit the spot in between rounds (played 36 holes each day)
The only negatives i can provide is there is no beverage cart so make sure you get your water and or Gatorade before you start or at the turn. On the course the bunkers were more dirt then sand,
I want to keep raving about the course, but on the other hand the lees people that know about it the easier it is to get a tee time ;).
Very nice track!
Excellent condition. Great staff. Clean facilities. Worth a trip/ drive into a beautiful state park for a round of golf
Excellent course for the value
Found this course from Golfnow while we stayed at NC Pinehurst area. It is located northern part of of SC and it was our first time playing at this course.
What a beautiful course for the price!
Every hole is wide and both the fairways and the putting greens are well maintained.
The scenery on some of the holes are outstanding and challenging. We loved it so much that we played the same course few days later.
I would definitely play this course again when I visit either NC or SC for the golf trip.
Course and greens were in great shape!
Loved the course but one two-some’s slow play backed up three other groups. I understand not having a course Marshall but it would be good to have someone ride through the course and check on pace of play. 5 hour round for a two-some is a bit much.
Slow play…again.
Love this course, except for the slow play. Rangers would help to move foursomes of seniors along.
Where were the rangers
The pace of play was atrocious. It took 5 hours for a twosome to go round none of the two was off the fairway. We waited every shot - even after playing short holes.
The etiquette of the game is out the window but course officials should at least make sure that the speed of play is correct and people from spoiling the day for others.
Totally ridiculous and shame on people who get paid to do a job and just don't care about doing it
Great condition and value
I would love to play this course every week. Excellent condition in the fairways and greens. Bunkers are rough and contain too many stones. Nice layout with no houses.
Great Course
This has always been a great course to play. Other than some confusion about single-rider carts (no longer allowed) which had staff out on the course taking carts and forcing double-rider carts which caused some delays in play, I enjoyed my round. I recommend this golf course for anyone desiring an enjoyable golf experience on a well-maintained course.
