Oak Hills Golf Club
About
Oak Hills Golf Club sits near the state capital but it doesn't feel like it's located in a city. It has a peaceful and picturesque setting. The golf course rolls across gentle hills studded with oaks, pines, and beautiful dogwoods. Some of the greens are rather undulating and a few are elevated as well. Most holes are framed by trees or water. There are some challenging holes but the layout doesn't present anything too intimidating for beginners. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. From the elevated tee on this par 5, golfers will get a panoramic view of nine different holes.

Told we had to leave
They had a tournament. As we started the 9th hole they said they where starting and we had to leave. We didn't get to play the back 9
Great value.
The course is in great shape. Great value for my money. The hills are challenging. Some elevated tee boxes.
Wide fairways, fun to play
Pleasantly surprised! Very playable as well as challenging.
Too hilly
Overall this is a nice course. Nice layout. Condition is good. Nice clubhouse. Friendly staff. The only problem I have with it is the constant hills. Every green and tee box is elevated so therefore you are constantly walking up or down a hill. Steep hills not slight elevations. If you are not in good shape it will just wear you out and you will not have an enjoyable time. The slopes around the greens are just too steep in my opinion. It seems like if you're 20 - 30 feet off the green the green is 10 - 20 feet above your head on every hole. It's just too much in my opinion. Cart paths are so far away from the greens if you're not walking up a hill you're walking a good distance. Tee to green it is hilly also. You constantly have an awkward lie and stance. For the money I would rather play a little "flatter" course where you are not just physically worn out before the back nine.
I played
For the temps to be in the 90's, the course was in good shape. I will be back soon
No bargain!
The course, the conditions and the staff were just fine. I was a little taken back when I found out from my playing partners that, as a senior, I could have played the ciurse for $12 cheaper, had I not gone through Golf Now. Next time I will know to contact the course first before booking a tee time on line.
Good Value For The Money
Overall, not a bad track. Payed $20/person with a cart. Played mid-morning, nice sunny day, not too hot. The actual "playing" parts of the course were in pretty good shape. Lots of rocks and dirt on the outskirts of the rough. Fairways and rough were in nice shape. The greens were slow and it's difficult to make putts because of that. That was probably the most frustrating part - very grainy bermuda greens as well. Bunkers weren't that great. The layout was good I thought. Pro shop assistant was rude. Snack bar lady was very friendly though. I'd play again for $20 - not worth much more though IMO. We played in 4 hours or less. Other players on the course were friendly - played through a few groups as a twosome. Gunna try out other courses in the Cola area first but I will probably be back to Oak Hills.
Great
I have played this course a few times. Always in good condition and keeps getting better. Great place to play golf.
great value for money
Course fairways in great shape, greens aerated and sanded which ironically helped ball hold the green. Greens not good for putting though due to aeration so we played automatic 2 putt if you hit the green. Still good price.
Great course, excellent value
The course was in top notch shape. Greens were smooth, rolled true but not too fast. Would like to see more ball washers available. The pace of play was pretty slow and tedious. Made it challenging to develop and maintain any rhythm. The round took over 5 hours to complete, but other than that, was really pleased with the experience.
Nice Course
Course in very good shape, best that I have seen it in awhile. need golfnow specials to play course at cheaper rate. Reg. price 47.00.
Greens came in good after aeration.
Columbia S.C. quality course
My round at Oak Hills was without a doubt one of the best golf experiences that I have had in Columbia S.C. I found the course to be very fair and forgiving. Approach shots to the greens provided a nice challenge as there was water on some holes, false fronts on others, and plenty of slope to navigate. For the price I would highly recommend a round at Oak Hills Golf Course.
Quick Round
Course is in good shape. Round went as fast as we wanted (just over three hours) with no one in front.
Good challenges. Greens could be better, but played fine.
very good....
Great course, very fair, plays longer than it is because of elevation changes...fairways and greens in great shape...
The course was challenging due to the many hills and fairway bunkers.
The course was in excellent shape with the exception of some of the bunkers which the sand level was thin and there were rocks and stones in them. However, I wouldn't hesitate to play here again and to recommend this course to others.
Good course. Greens could be better
This a fun golf course, nice tee boxs, nice fairways, the greens could be better though. The pro shop and bar are really nice too.
best in area i've played this year.
Tee'd off at 7:42 and was done by 11:20. Course was in fantastic shape, tees, fwys, and greens perfect. Greens were firm but held well struck shots, and rolled very well. If they had them too fast they would be unplayable because they have so much undulation. They have reworked the bunkers since I last played and they look really good, especially the wood planks on the bunker faces of 13. My only complaint would be the pins were set really hard. It is US Open weekend so I guess they wanted to give us a test. Just a great, course, if you are in the area it's a must play.
Excellent Deal one of Columbia's best courses.
Great deal through GolfNow! $18 before tax is inbeatable when everyone else is paying $40. Highly recommended!
Good solid public course
The greens were ariated when I played but they were still in good shape. The course was a good layout with some real pretty holes on the front nine. Great value and I'll play it again next time I'm in Columbia.
Layout is nice
Overall condition of the course was great..I believe the staff should let the players know they've just sand the greens or cut the price of play.Because you can lose about 1 stroke a hole with all the sand they apply.
