Oak Hills Golf Club sits near the state capital but it doesn't feel like it's located in a city. It has a peaceful and picturesque setting. The golf course rolls across gentle hills studded with oaks, pines, and beautiful dogwoods. Some of the greens are rather undulating and a few are elevated as well. Most holes are framed by trees or water. There are some challenging holes but the layout doesn't present anything too intimidating for beginners. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. From the elevated tee on this par 5, golfers will get a panoramic view of nine different holes.

People were great...nice layout...

Staff was great...and the course was in pretty good shape for this time of year...had such a good experience that we played again the next day. Thanks to Jeff for meeting us at the car and taking care of our clubs...Pro shop guy(sorry I did not remember you name) and Mark who played with us and put up with our poor play. We will be back...

Great lay out, greens need some work on them.

Good place just the greens are very thin. Not to far off Hwy. 20 so that makes it easy to find. The little lady at the grill was very nice and a good cook. Would like to play it again in the summer to see the greens fuller.

Best course in midlands for money. Beautiful with a great layout, and greens that are fast and true.

Challenging, but still fun. Beautiful course. Great layout with fast greens. Only negative would be the rock filled bunkers... Not a pro... Can't afford to gouge wedges in a bunker... No sponsor to hand me another wedge for free... Otherwise, 2nd favorite course in Columbia area because of great layout and confidence giving tee view's... Number one favorite when it comes to cost... Super course to spend 4 hours doing what I love without losing my wallet.

This could be a great course but the attitude of everyone from management down needs a refresher course on what customer service is.

The ball washers are always empty...always! Almost all the bunkers have no sand in them or they are packed so solid its like hitting off of clay. Some of the greens that were some of the best a year ago have large bare spots in them. The course layout is challenging but things go south before you even tee off. This is a popular course and centrally located in Columbia. As such, particularly on the weekend, it is busy and they pack them in here(the attitude is it's all about the money). The proshop worker is also the starter and because of that once they have your money, groups are free to start off as soon as it is clear to hit so by the 4th or 5th hole it isn't uncommon to have 3 groups on the same hole(one on the green, one in the fairway, and one on the tee waiting to tee off) and a 3 or 4 minute wait between shots ruins your rhythm. There is also no ranger to help speed up play so a 5 hour round is more the rule than the exception. This round my partner and I had to leave after 17 because he had to leave for a family engagement. We arrived an hour before our tee time and hoped to get out early but were paired with another twosome from Golf Now . Even after asking to go off early with another twosome we were told no. They have a policy(supposedly) of no twosomes on the weekend, but one went off two groups in front of us and we saw 3 more twosomes and a single on 17 and 18 as we started the back nine. Most clubs I have played usually go out of their way to make the experience one where you want to come back but I have watched employees almost take glee in refusing a customers request for something simple that most clubs would not even blink at. Oh, if you're military, don't expect to use your military discount on the weekend...it's only good through the week(that money thing again). Don't bring your son or girlfriend to ride in the cart with you either...your gonna pay extra. Too many rules and they are not applied evenly to all.

Course in great condition for it being winter

This is a beautiful course. Even in the winter the fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. The greens had suffered through some kind of grass disease, but I've definitely played on worse. The course was very fair, not overly challenging, though the greens with their slope and undulations could get you. Overall it was a very enjoyable round.

Excellent Value

This course is peaceful, challenging, and well-maintained. It's definitely one of the best in the area. The fairways are actually green, even in January. Some of the greens could use a little work, but they're in much better shape than some of the other courses around. Oak Hills is not quite as difficult as some courses in the area, but it's not too easy either. Playing by myself, I finished in a little over 3 hours. If you're looking for club quality golf with a public price tag, play Oak Hills.

nice winter rye grass for the fairways, but the greens could use some work

The course was in very nice shape for middle of winter. Next time will call the course directly to get a tee time because it was posted for cheeper at the Course than on Golf Now. Friendly staff at the course

Nice course

Great layout - challenging but fair. Every green is elevated.
Top seeding of greens when we played made them a bit bumpy but still played well.

Great Features with hills, creek and sand

The course had a frost delay, but the pace of play was still extremely slow. over 5 hrs to play. The course was fun to play with great features and a great value. Some greens were a little ruff.

A long wide open course with challenging bunkers.

Course offers an opportunity to hit several long balls in order to reach Par 5's. Deep bunkers demand precision shots around the greens. Oak Hills also has several water hazards that come into play on your round. One of the more known courses in Columbia and a great place to play.
