Oak Hills Golf Club
About
Oak Hills Golf Club sits near the state capital but it doesn't feel like it's located in a city. It has a peaceful and picturesque setting. The golf course rolls across gentle hills studded with oaks, pines, and beautiful dogwoods. Some of the greens are rather undulating and a few are elevated as well. Most holes are framed by trees or water. There are some challenging holes but the layout doesn't present anything too intimidating for beginners. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. From the elevated tee on this par 5, golfers will get a panoramic view of nine different holes.

Nice course
Good Course and well maintained. Play there all the time. Best value in Columbia area.
Great Course
Great course for the average golfer! You will not be disappointed.
Go play Oak Hills!
good course for the money
The course was nice. The grass was starting to grow in the fairway but there were still bare spots. The greens were soft and like a sponge in some areas but overall good. They were running at about a 10-11 when i was playing and ran True to what you see. The layout of the course was good and with only a few big dog legs. The par threes have very nice scenery. The wind always seems to be in your face on this course. The tee boxes could use a little work some are bare and not level but are not horrible. Overall this is a good course for beginner to intermediate players but if you are used to private club courses you will not be over excited about this course.
Outstanding!!! A Fabulous Little Gem!!!!
A great little course that has a lot of challenging holes. The grounds crew has done a fantastic job with course over the past year and it is in awesome playing condition. The greens are lightning fast and the pin placements are very challenging.
The staff could not be more friendly and helpful as well as welcoming to all. The Pro Shop Staff go out of their way to welcome all. Wendy who is in the Snack Bar is absolutely "the best". She is incredibly friendly and will get your food ready in momemnts notice and lets you phone in while out out to course to have your order ready at the turn so so don't have to wait.
Sarasota, FL and Ridgeway, SC
Good value
Oak Hills was a great deal for the money. Course was maintained well and greens were in good shape for the price. Play was slow but Rangers were doing what they could to speed up play. I would definitely play here again.
Unfair greens.
Enjoyed the course. Some greens wouldn't hold good shots. I had a great shot inside 4' sit and then about a 10mph breeze blew the ball off the green over a bank into a bunker. I'm all for a tough course but this is excessive.
fair value course
I paid full price for this round but think it should have been lower based on current course conditions and not being green yet. This course would be good as part of a "super buy" and when trying to pay multiple courses in the area.
Challenging, fun, great shape
Tough greens that don't allow for short siding. Great layout, not in someone's back yard. Lots of water and trees. Greens really make up course defense. Seen a few balls putted and chipped right off the green. Look at the approach shots to end up below the hole or you will make no better than bogey. Best/close golf to downtown columbia.
Challenging
I found the coarse a fair, but challenging layout. The fairways are wide, and greens run true.
Thank you staff
Great layout, no homes, good rates and a very accommodating staff. Best course in the Columbia area for the money in my opinion. I haven't found another course that comes close to what Oak Hills has to offer. I'd like to also thank the staff for getting me out on Sunday. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Looking forward to my next round at Oak Hills.
Lightning greens
I have never putted on greens this fast. The ball never stops rolling! Snow storm + lots of wind = super dry/dead greens!
Great way to start the new year
I can't wait for spring so I can play this course when It's green. The weather conditions made this track very difficult, but the layout is wicked.
If you are thinking about playing here, stop thinking and book your tee time now!!
Varied and linksy.
Davis Love has designed a lovely, risk-and-reward course, which has benefited from the failure of housing development, inasmuchas nature has the upper hand throughout. Greens are fast but not too much. Views are superb. Humps and bumps give variety without being tricksy. In the clubhouse, helpful Wendy runs a very nice grill eatery.
Nice fairways well mainained
I would recommend this course to anyone. It's a beautiful course.
Very friendly staff and members on a well maintained course..
The course was very playable and very well maintained. I enjoyed the birds and peaceful golf course even if the cart path was rough at times. This is the best value that I have had playing golf all year.
Greens are true and layout provides plenty of variety.
This course is one of the best golf deals in the area. The layout is challenging but fair and playable at all levels. There are no tricky holes but each hole is distinctive. The tee, fairways and greens were all in very good condition. The greens were true and quick but not outrageously fast...even then poorly hit balls could easily run across the green and down the embankment.
It's been over 10 years since I've played this course and it is one of the best in the area.
While this course is challenging enough to make one break several clubs, it is that challenge and the beauty of the course that calls one back for more. Out of eighteen greens I noticed only one that had a bare spot issue which is a tribute to the staff.
Excellent value!
Course was in great shape (fast/healthy greens). Excellent value at the range and with accessories in the clubhouse. I would definitely return to Oak Hills.
Well maintained course with difficult greens.
After all the wet weather, I expected many areas of ground under repair, but if they had to make fixes, it was done superbly such that the repairs were very well concealed and blended in. Fairways were in great shape. Traps were raked and soft. Surprisingly few players on the course on a Wednesday afternoon. The only negative I have is the poor condition of the paved cart paths.
Fun, challenging course
Oak hills is fun and not too difficult but there are a couple longish par 3s. The fairways are decent, but I feel like they are better in winter when they overseed with rye. I'm not sure why their fairways aren't as lush as other courses in Columbia with all the rain we have had. The greens could use some work because you can hit a perfect wedge and it will leave a small indention but that's about it. Not really receptive. And the greens are deceptively fast and they weren't rolled when I played because you could hear the ball rolling on the grass with every putt.
Nice course, can't beat the 11$ hot deal for 36 holes.
